Tim, thanks for that info.

I know several companies that do rapid prototyping aswell over here, but what I'm specifically looking for are just the 2d drawings with dimensions so I can make a 3d image for myself. I also got the software to add tools etc. onto the 3d file, so I can create it at my school (we've got a 5-axle (?) CNC machine).

You could have it made cheaply using a process called "rapid prototyping" where the model is built up with a 3D printer, adding a few thou each pass. It lays down a layer of powder, and then a printer head (smae as one found on an HP inkjet) passes over and applies bonder. Its really a cool process and it can even make moving parts. There is no penalty for complexity, as it takes the same amount of time for it to make a solid block as it does the most complex design imaginable. The company who makes these is Z Corp. Im not sure what file types they support though, but i do know its a wide range.
Making one ont of solid wood or metal would be expensive. Think of the time it would take to tool up for the job. It would also have to be made from a number of parts probably.

Wyatt, it would be a digital 3d image, so you can rotate around it, and If you like take 2d pictures of it, or have it rotating around your desktop.

I'll have an example of a lab "working" space (I don't know how to put it in english). I created it from a 2d work drawing.
The quality isn't that great, and neither are the "photo's" but it because I don't think the boss will be very happy with some complete pictures on the net. This image is one without complete rendering, which affects the quality aswell.

It's just 1 file, were you can get all sorts things out.
For instance convert it to a CAM file and have it automaticly cut out of a piece of wood/metal orso.

What do you mean by 3d image? How can an image be 3d? Perhaps post an example of your previous work or of something else.... Sorry, but I do not have the material you seek.

Hello everybody,

I'm currently busy with 3d designing, and I'd like to make a 3d 512M. I know it will take several months to create such a 3d version, but I got the time in between my jobs.

I'm now looking for technical drawings, with dimensions etc.
Is there anyone over here owning 512M technical drawings ? digital files like .dwg orso ?

3d drawings are welcome aswell, but I want to create my own, so 2d would be more usefull.

It's not commercial related in anyway, just for my own pleasure :-)

Thanks in advance.

btw. I'm using Rhinoceros 3.0 and maybe I'll use 3ds Max 5.0
