LOL, Dave... Not sure, but i saw a (nart?) blue 360 spider last night (in he window @ B of LI) with a grey and tobacco interior and yellow calipers... Somehow, though, Dave - it looked awesome...! If i yadda yadda yadda... my calipers would be the same color as the car... :-)

Oh, and your comment reminds me of a bumper sticker i once saw:
"Friends don't let friends drive stock."

You took the words right out of my mouth!

But back to my original question? do friends let friends order yellow calipers?

I am guessing this is some kind of inside joke, I am guessing that the other posters imply that you squeel under pressure and generate lots of dust???? However, no doubt you are expensive to replace but prone to leaking if left unused!

I actually know Ferrari's pretty well. I just learned to drive a manual, today in fact, so he could even get GT over the GTA. I don't really like the 456 for the fact it has a back seat, and that it will soon be replaced with the 460 GT. My best bet (assuming he had a $120k budget) would be a 1999 355 GTS. Those babies are sweet. What do they sell for? $100k?

Now, do you think that a man driving a C43 AMG can afford a Ferrari 456M?? He's nowhere near that bracket yet.

The price of 456s have gone down quite a lot.

I advise 1999 and newer for 456M, stands for Modified. The 1999 is priced as low as 100-120k while brand new 2003 is tagged for $230k.

I have seen 1995's 456 as low as $65k but need to be ready for major repair and maintenance.

Look it up at www.ferrarina.com for current market price for 456 or www.dupontregristry.com

Good luck, The feel of 456 is similar to Mercedes' sports car, but nothing like 360 or 550/575M.

I think it is a good start for him

Dr. Shelbee... Yes, I am too young. And yes, I think he should do as you advised! Would you mind giving him a little speech??? Perhaps you would pursuade him more than me. I have not been successfull! Except instead of a 456... One of yours!!!!!:-)

Wyatt, since you are still under age, I think your dad should trade his Mercedes to a Ferrari. 456 might be a good start??

They discontinued the gold caliper and replaced it with the yellow.

Keep in mind that it is a though call when it comes to sell the car with gold/yellow caliper

I agree with Dr. Shelbee. The red seems to hold more sport, and they match the tail lights. Silver is classy, but doesn't stand out. The Yellow is nice, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't hold any special value, and it reminds me too much of the Porsche GT2 ceramic brakes.

Thanks for the post, I did find this gold pic. But its kinda small. I did see one a 550 with a deep tan interior that matched the brakes and it looked good, otherwise gold seems like a tough one get right.Upload

The Dave,

The yellow caliper was an option to replace the ugly gold caliper.

My first preference is red, then silver, then yellow.

I think no matter what the exterior color of the car, I really prefer red brake caliper

I just saw a new red tan 360 coupe at the dealer today. It had many factory options, amoung them was yellow calipers. With the yellow badges and the yellow "mini hub caps" they all come with it looked suprisingly good. Does anyone have a picture of any late 360/456/550 with yellow or gold calipers? I am now considering it for a future car.
