I was contacted a couple of months ago by a young man named Amir who saw my ad here stating that I was looking for a 550.
If this is the same person and I suspect it is, he is a guy in his 20s recently out of school who was representing himself as an auto broker. He lives in Houston and does NOT have any Ferrari from what I could gather.
Regards,
Mark

What the hell is going on here?

Wyatt, you're the second guy to bring this up. One guy says the car is his, then another says the car is his, then changes his mind and says its a 50/50 deal. Now you post something where this Amir again claims the car as his. I say fack it and appreciate the car irrespective of who's driving it or owning it at the time.

Shady people man. Dan, you should go in these forums and clear the friggin' air and blow this Amir guy out of the water.

Wyatt, saw your posting. Love the Ned Flanders photoshop job. :-)

Dan, do you know of a guy named Amir? I think he's posing to own your 550 Maranello on other forums.

Edit: It went on for some time, but it's over. He was either busted or gave up. It was on E46fanatics. http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=96146

Alberto, they both are nice. Therefore it is hard to give up any of two. I think I want to keep these two puppies for a long time.

I like my 550 better than the new 575M. I test drove them both in 6 speed and F1. Still like the 550 the best.

I don't think I will enjoy the 550 Barchetta as I enjoy my 360 spider F1 with TUBI. They both are just fun to drive either way.

If I go the symphony hall with a classy medical colleague of mine, then I will drive the 550. If I want to feel wild, going out with 22 year old blonde, then 360 is the way to go.

I have got so many girls stopped and gave comments to either of both F-cars. I think because of the license frame I have (said Ferrari in the rear) and the SHIELDS

FORZA FERRARI :-) :-)

Are you, by any chance, a photographer (professional or amateur w/ skills)? I think I have seen some pictures floating around the 'net with your initials / name on them. One and the same? If so - quality work for sure!

I'm not trying to avoid all notice - but discretion is never a bad thing. I'd much rather it not be noticed than scream look at me.

And if you have to ask why...drive one!

shahin, there is much more to a ferrari than the fact that you might get notice, for sheer driving pleasure...being able to wipe the floor with most anybody you meet on the highway, i mean there are many reasons...the attention is flattering, but shouldnt be the sole purpose of your purchase...

Camarillo is north of LA about 50 miles.
Onions and/or garlic aside, the run was most pungent!
Funny thing. If you go there more than one weekend in a row, the CHP chase planes come out and they set speed traps.
One must be aware.

Have you tried your 550 above 160 mph?? Feels like 60 mph. I don't think girls will be afraid when they are in 550 fast. The car is very stable at the high speed.

I did not intentionally have tubi on my 550. If I want to listen to magic ferrari engine, I drive the 360 spider, open top down and listen to the tubi on 3th gear 5000 rpm :-)

I noticed it is your dream car too on your profile

Shelbee,

Don't lie! We all know you've got a 'look at me, it's a Ferrari' license plate frame, have filled the trunk with subs, and were blasting the latest gangsta rap with the subs at 11. Then you saw her, desperately tried to look like the cool Frankie you wish you were, and said something to the effect of 'hey baby, this gear shift controls 12 cylinders of power. the one you should grab's got more to manage - let me take you for a ride.' - at which point, in complete horror, she sped off frantically, jumped two curbs, and SUVd her way to safety. :-)

The 550 is a GORGEOUS car!!!! In my dream world I would have both a V8 and V12 and never worry about whether Ferraris should have 8's or 12's.

Dan,

White castle is in the midwest, and I believe you can find them in the northeast as well. They (you always buy more than one) are best enjoyed post party, preferably with 12 or 13 of your closest friends packed in the designated driver's Isuzu trooper. We once pulled through the drive thru and ordered 130 burgers and one small diet coke. The lady on the intercom was speechless, then she wanted to call the cops until she actually looked outside and saw us. BTW, the burgers are small and used to cost a quarter.

You are soooo right....once you've experienced the 12 it is hard to look at the 8 cylinder cars in the same way. I really liked my 355 but I have no regrets whatsoever in dumping it for the 550.

Just got back from my health club, driving my black 550 solo. All suddened the young 20+ year old blonde girl in her pick up truck by herself looked at my car first, then me then she wanted me to open the passenger window. She said "It is a beautiful car" I rolled the window down interrupting my listening to MOZART then said Thank you then rolled my window up.

See,
Does not have to be red to be noticeable. It is Maranello and it is a Ferrari :-)

If I wanted to commit suicide, I'd buy the 550, and see how long I could last before Diane (my wife) found out. The 360 was a tough sell, if I then got a 12, I probably wouldn't see the light of the next day.

I don't know about the 19" Modular wheels. I heard they have air leaking problem since sometimes the screws were not exactly tight, especially after spinning above 170 mph in the Maranello.

I think standard Maranello wheels will look as awesome. I would like to have standard 18" wheels from 575M on my 550 I think they will look awesome.

Shelbee: Thanks - you were helpful as always. Actually, the redline snuck up on me (yes, I gave her plenty of short-shifting time to warm up to proper temps) the first time I really got on it.

Acceleration is very pronounced across the range, and the torque is awesome (3rd from 20? 5th at 45ish), but acceleration from 5k-7500 is just AWESOME.

Jason - I have, and I do like the 575 wheels a lot. I'm still not sold on the modular wheels, and no aftermarket wheel really does it for me on this car, so who knows. First order of business is the rather marginal stereo.

Dan Congratulations.

As I said when you are patient, you will get what you want eventually.

Enjoy the ride and the torque you feel when you go in 4th or 5th gear in low speed.

Be careful not to hit red line since it will ruin the engine.

Kuzi: Taek and I were talking about your visit today. I figured you'd want a ride in Norm's 360, if anything, given you have a 575. Or maybe you wanna drive a 550 that isn't crazy Frankie's :-)

Damn Taek - did you order 10 double-doubles, or 2 5 by 5s? :D Look at those grubby hands, it's gotta be a 5x5 animal style!

Jason: Thakns - I too wonder about that paint. Whatever, someone likes it, and that's all that matters. It wasn't *that* bad. Worst color scheme I've ever seen pictures of is a yellow coupe with a full bordeaux interior that had yellow stiching. BLECH!

The combo bowl really does look better in person. And I see you got the miso (aka dishwater) soup too, but where are the condiments? BTW Jason, what was your motive for taking that picture?

wow, Taek...that bag is bulging. how many burgers did you order?.. for those of us on the east coast who haven't had the opportunity to try In-N-Out yet (i havent), there's a place on 12th and 3rd ave in Manhattan called "Blue 9 Burger" which supposedly comes quite close to it. though Corner Bistro still takes the prize, IMO

I took the Turbo to In-N-Out and got a lot of attention. This 550 would definitely stir things up. Also notice I'm not driving...My wife has comandeered the keys to the car and I'm left in the dust.

congrats on the beautiful new acquisition, Dan.. I think the black helps convey the muscular nature of the 550, while also blending well with the reserved lines. You can rest assured that if I was at the In-N-Out, I'd come gawk at the car.. the forest green 360 is something I wouldn't go for. i wonder if it was painted to match a sample..

As for the Yoshinoya, I was at the Times Square location yesterday and had a beef bowl. It's quite good.. As it just so happens, I took a photo of part of the meal, in case anyone who's never been there is interested. the photo is not that flattering, but it tastes better than it looks. It really is a good place to eat at, and it's cheap. If you're by the times sq. location, there's also a new ice cream place next door called "Coldstone" which is also great.

Very nice Dan! Do I get a ride when I come to SF? Jim, they only get noticed by people who know Ferraris, otherwise they are pretty obscure........which is kind of nice........especially in black/black combo.
Again, very nice Dan and hope to see it on the 19th.

DES - the lengths you're willing to take, err, go through, are impressive to say the least.

I fear for the sanity, lives, and now even [ahem] of the SoCal boys! :-)

Nice 550! The 360 is nice... but it would look better with a grile and mod wheels along with sport seats. :-)

Dan, first timers should get the chicken and beef combo bowl with a caramel flan for dessert, and not too much free condiments :-)

Andrew: thanks.

DES: Err...not a great visual! :-) Seriously, for a green metallic one? The pictures don't reflect just how green the car is. It's not as dark as it looks. It's not a bright old lime green either, but still.

Ken: I've seen those. Never stopped in - lunch today, perhaps! :-)

Dan, go to
http://www.yoshinoyausa.com/west.html
for locations. Best beef bowl for $5. There is also one near Times Square in NYC. I used to live off In-N-out and Yoshinoya back in the good old days in Irvine.

Much thanks, Dave / Doody / Ken.

Doody: end of this week? They were booked solid, and slipped me in, so I'm not pressing my luck.

Ken: Never heard of it. Assuming it's Japanese, but where are they?

You're absolutely right, In-N-out is the best fast food joint (They're also in Las Vegas). Yashinoya comes in at a close second.

Oh, good looking car too :-)

Thanks guys. Personally I like interior shots because people never put them up, and you don't get a feel for the car w/o them.

When she's back from service, I'll do a more proper job. In fact, Norm's supposed to meet me with his GORGEOUS absolutely stunning baby.

Here are a few more. By the way, this metallic green / tan 360 spider was at FoSF service today. Very strange color - I'm not sure I'm convinced.

I know, I know, it needs to be washed. Not a big deal. I'll do it after the 30k is performed (they'll detail it anyways). Then I'll CG it.

Anyways, more to come in front of the house after the relatives leave (I'd rather not tell them. Discretion is a good thing).

I do love the subtlety of this thing - drove it to In N Out (for you CA boys - for the rest, this is the best fast food burger you will *ever* eat) - absolutely NO ONE noticed. Of course you 550 guys know that, but it's just awesome. I'm loving the absolute stealthiness.
