Most folks say the cut cars trade at the same price as the non-cut cars...thus the cost of conversion is yours alone. - JMG |

I think it looks good, I would consider doing the same. How much more do you think it adds to the used value? I am assuming less than 40K Adam |

I have seriously considered buying a 456 and having it cut and have a quote from Newport Convertibles for $40k. This leaves the rear seats and the top is power operated. A link to a job they have done is http://secure1advancedemedia.com/newportconvertible_com/Detail.tpl?rnd=5320&cart=1063822363394867&sku=10595243151089509 - JMG |

There was a blue Straman 456 convertible at the Kruse auction in Auburn this past weekend. No idea what the bidding went to. |

Didn't Ferrari build some of these as part of the "Venice" project for the Sultan of Brunei? I know they did station wagons and 4-door sedans as well. Anyone notice that in the initial pic, one headlight is up and one is down? Time for a visit to the shop... |

IMO, it's ugly. I was never a big fan of the 456, but I like it more than a DB7 Vantage (coupe). However, these convertibles... Just don't tickly my fancy. I'd take a Volante over that 1995 one for sale, hands down, and especially a 360 Spider over either of those... Sorry... To each his own. Ben: Did you install lowering springs as well in your photoshops? Be careful when driving... You might rub the fender wells... Edit: I'd take an SL65 AMG over the Volante and the 456 Spider! I'd probably take an SL55 AMG over the 456, too... |

Ben, It is listed there right now - I just tried it. No details about the car other than it has a Vortech supercharger and supposedly puts 430bhp @ the wheels. --Dan |

That's a 456 that I'd own. What a great looking car. Too bad they never built it. Art |

MAMA MIA!!! I AM IN LOVE! I've got this tingle in my spine reminiscent of the first time I saw and heard an F355 in the flesh. ZING! Never did like the 456 wheels though. Here are some alternatives!

Too bad that the wheels on 456s are only in 17" and looks like 16" Porsche 993 standard wheels |

The one I posted is not chopped off but original Ferrari factory's car and claimed to be the only one they made. S/N is 100890 owned by Motor Cars International, at Springfield, MO |

I would take one over a 360 Spider in a heartbeat. A car like this could spell the end for a DB7 Vantage Volante. --Dan |

This conversion was done by Richard Straman of Newport Beach, Ca. He's created open 365 GT4/2+2's and 400i's as well. I must have pictures of these as well. But he's best known for taking off the tops of 275GTB's to create Nart Spyders and the same for Daytona's. This one was called 456SS, which stood for Spider Supercharger, so obviously he has done some tuning too. Here are 2 more photos
