I had the more or less the same idea but I was driving a 328gts and was gonna change it to koenig specs. But I did something better I got me a testarossa, I like what you have in mind but I think that without twin turbos the testa will not beat an F40 or F50. If you do as you say with the car then you will just be in a 288GTO range but not much more than that since a 288GTO weights 2,555 pounds, 400bhp@7,000, 366lb-ft of torque@3,800rpm. Michele Aboreto test drove a GTO and an Aston Martin Vantage Zagato, the GTO was the fastest with a 0-60 in 4.7 sec. a quater mile of 12.8 and a top speed of 191m.p.h. please let us know of the outcome, godspeed your 512TR and lets hope you dont need the $55,000 twin turbo job from Koenig to meet your goals. Good luck

I think EMRA requires stock induction, I may be able to play with the ignition & maybe injectors, I'll have to read the rules carefully during buildup to find my "unfair advantage" :)
First year I want to run the engine completely stock for reliability & to get used to the car
Seems most the cars in this class in EMRA r vettes or Camaros & u must run stock brakes so that works in my favor. I'd love to run against some Vipers

So, you're going to improve the exhaust system, but what about intake? Will you be using the stock intake manifold/plenumn and injectors? What about the ignition system, stock or distributorless direct-fire?

in stock US form the 5.0 flat 12 develops 428 hp & high 300 ft/#s of torque. I think I can improve both with headers & by deleting the mufflers.
I'd like to get her down to at least 2700, maybe less. That should take care of F40s as the flat 12 develops more torque than the smaller twin turbo V8. The F50 is a tougher nut to crack cus it has a true carbon fiber tub which not even the F40 has. Also both have more sophisticated suspensions

The F50 is pretty fast. It puts out 510hp and weighs 2700lbs. I've never heard how much torque it puts out though so you may have it there. How much hp does the 512 make? You also have the edge in that you're driving a specially designed racing Ferrari and not a 1 of 349 collectible. I think your car is going to be quite a bit faster than F40s and F50s for that reason alone.
Good Luck with it and include more pictures when various things are done if you can.

Gonna try to drop 1000# of weight, new springs & shocks, the roll cage will make the chassis stiffer, headers, no mufflers.
Dropping her down under 2700# should bring the acceleration & braking into F40, F50 league.

Alan Cosby of the Ferrari Owners Club UK races a 512TR in the UK & he has beaten an F50 several times & posted fastest lap times at several tracks where the F50 was also running.

Of course driver ability may have something to do with this also :)

What are you going to do other than the body to make it eat F50s? Twin Turbos?

k512tr

Heres what I want the car to look like by spring of '02. Going to add a full cage, fuel cells, harnesses, racing seats, slicks.
I could use some advice from any1 who has restored a TR or 512TR.
Right now what I need is an expert with fiberglass bodies in western CT or NY on the border.
Thanks

512TR

Everybody ignored my last post :( So I'm trying it with a different title. I picked this 92 512TR up for $48k & I plan to rebuild it into an F50 eating race car for racing in the Eastern Motor racing Association
