Congratulations Marcus....let me assure you that you made a great choice. I have been driving mine as a DAILY driver. No problems.

But I do have to say that when I got my car, I had about 2 nightmare months of initial problems i.e.; air con, magnetic coil, hose leak (hardening), alternator, white smoke, etc. But once I sorted it all out....a beauty to drive and to look at.

The key is you must drive it...never let it sit.

Congratulation on your 85 Tesstarossa.
I remember when I first bought my 1979 308 GTS many years ago It felt like getting laid for the first time. It was a great pleasure going through its restoration process except for paying for the
parts.I still enjoy the appearance of the Testarossa and never felt for a single moment that that their looks have gotten old. I find the Testarossa very appealing and if I could afford to buy another Ferrari it would be either a Testarossa or a 355 GTS.
Good luck and enjoy it.

Beautiful car.
When I buy a Testarossa this is the one and the color combination is perfect.
In USA do you have to have both side mirrors?
It's a pitty :-(
It looks so nice with only one

Cool. The testarossa series are just tough looking cars, so mean and low. Ferrari does a great job of having a complete line of exotics.

Adam,

I got the pedal covers from ItalianCarParts.Com. They are made out of aluminum and cost around $200 - way cheaper than the Titanium versions sold elsewhere. I figured I could just replace them when (if) they got tarnished. They look and feel great - I can finally easily see the pedals! Below is a close up.

closeup

While the dimensions are perfect size wise, the curvature is a little off. There is a gap at the bottom and top of the pedels, but you don't notice or feel it. The cover is flush at the middle, and very sturdy.

I couldn't get the screws to go in the same holes on the clutch and brake pedals because the pedal arm was in the way on the clutch.

The RioCar is an MP3 car stero that contains a 10GB to 60GB harddrive. It is based on Linux and boots up within seconds of turning it on, and fits in a standard DIN bay.

For more info check out:

The great thing (or not so great thing depending on how you look at it), is that Rio recently decided to discontinue the line (but they still develop the software for it). The players used to cost over a $1,000 but they are clearing inventory now for as low as $299.00.

How do you get access to the window motor? I saw it on the right hand side of the door, but couldn't figure out how to access it. It seemed like panel covering it up was a welded part of the door.

Marcus;

Congrats on the car...it looks great. Who's pedal covers did you get as I need to get some also. What is a RioCar unit? Who makes the radio that is in the car...cool graphic. Did you figure out if you have juice running to the windo or not. Check the fuses ( and the wires running to the motor ) See if the cable is binding somewhere, or in my case it was the bracket / bolts that came loose at the bottom of the window where the cable runs through it. The drivers seat does look a bit tired, I have been looking at options too, and would love to find the cotton covers with logos on them or switch to a racing seat in red.

Good luck...and get the service / parts manual from Nick...great help.

Yesterday I purchased my first Ferrari, a Testarossa 85. It is a great car, but like all Ferraris (sp) it has some quirks and Ferrari Chat has been a great resource for finding solutions.

This morning I installed new pedal covers, and the amazing RioCar (empeg) headend unit. I am thinking of having the leather on the seats redone, they are quite worn. Also, the dashboard leather has "shrinked" and needs to be fixed.

The passenger side window motor isn't working (it was stuck about an 1 inch down), and while I wasn't able to find a solution yet, I managed to remove the door panels and tie a string between one of the pulleys and a metal part of the door to hold the window in up positions. Works for now :)
