Thanks, Bob...just placed an order with Moss -- hope to have some parts in by weekend (give me something to do).

Bob,
Keep the B as a parts runner. I will never get over the loss of my 1966 B. It was the same blue color as yours.

Bob...found some pics of my 79 MGB that I mentioned earlier -- thought I'd post a couple:
79MGB_Front
79MGB_Rear
These were taken a couple of days after purchase. Sure wish it had the chrome bumpers (like yours) from the earlier models -- my first MG had them.
Just finished dusting off the old Victoria British & Moss catalogs, and decided to order some parts and start tinkering on the MG again -- wow, MG parts sure are cheap (compared to Ferrari prices) .

My friend and football team mate's dad has an MG, with an exhaust. He loves that car, he drives it to all the games wearing a british driving cap. Its a smaller one that that though. Its a sharp car. He installed a roll cage too, i guess that makes sense because those things look liike death mobiles (imagine flipping one)

Oh COOL!!! Boy do I have some MGB experience to share. The first car I ever bought was an orange 67 MGB GT, it had 5 chrome wire wheels, and the chrome bumpers. No overdrive 4 speed. I learned so much by having that car. I rebuilt my engine BY MYSELF without anyones help, just a Chiltons book. It had a Weber sidedraught carb, a mild cam, Ansa exhaust and a Cobra racing seat. I did my first20 autocrosses in that car!! I learned to race in that car! I drove it through college. DAMN do I miss it. I sold it to a guy who has a British Car Museum in St George Utah.

MGBs are simply wonderful, fun cars. You will learn to work on them by owning them. Sure they needed a lot of tinkering, but it was easy to work on and fun. I LOVE MGs.

Bob, I owned a 71 "B" (chrome bumper) for a couple of years... same color as yours. Great car! My favorite was the TR6 I owned for 11 years. There is no other garage smell like the oil & gas smell of a British sports car... it's great! I think a lot of us (older guys) here cut our teeth balancing SU's and Stromberg's! I recall doing a lot of business with Moss and The Roadster Factory.

Parts are sure a lot easier to find and a LOT cheaper than Ferrari parts. When I tore the engine down, #1 rod bearing came out in 7 parts, before teardown still had good oil pressure and no noise, shows what abuse that little guy can take.

Very nice MGB Roadster you have there, Bob! You've done a superb job of restoring that car.

I can relate to your MG experience -- I purchased a 1979 MGB Roadster last July -- it was in very good condition, but decided to "restore" it to my liking. Was just getting started when I found the 308QV -- and the poor MGB has been neglected ever since

Incidentally, the very first car I ever owned was a 1972 MGB Roadster -- bought it used when I was about 16 y.o. -- paid $2,100 cash and drove it 2 miles to the house (first and last time I drove it, by the way). Dad and I got this bright idea to completely restore it (was in poor condition, but ran great) -- so we put it up on blocks and began tearing it apart. Couple of years later, after returning home from "prep" school the MG is gone! Come to find out, dad got tired of it being in the way and sold it for parts!! And I had missed owning the MG ever since, which is why I purchased this one (and because it is nearly identical to my old one).

Those are fun cars, aren't they? And very easy to fix up and work on, too. I especially like the blue with tan int. on yours (mine's the typical British green w/ black int.).

When I drove it home there was a lot of duct tape holding parts on, 2 years later it didn't turn out bad. It doesn't get much use since I got the 308, almost thinking of selling it, but haven't really decided yet.
