yeah,I agree with you. I suppose that they need to be able to handle any car that comes through. But...I haven't ever let anyone else drive my baby. And,for these guys,it's just a job. But,every time I've brought the 'vette in,there's usually a couple cars that are into cars working there who come over (if not busy) and chat about cars for a minute. (swarm of bees when I brought in the Ferrari!) |

Frank, I had to do the same thing. The guy tried to pacify me by telling me about all the "exotics" that had come through there the last few days. My tester was pretty cool, and he asked me about the car and made sure he didn't f**k anything up. It was pretty obvious that they knew how to deal with unique cars. |

You know,I had to take my 17,000 mile,81-308 in for the test, and, they would not let me drive-but-I was allowed to sit in the passenger seat! and...believe me,I had my eyes on the driver THE WHOLE TIME! but,it passed the "idle" test, and was over almost right away. But,,,needless to say... |

Yes, the Antique Vehicle plates are the way to go with cars 25 years old or older. No emissions tests, and cheaper plates. Driving on the street is called "maintenance driving". You can download the form on the State of Illinois website and send it in. |

Go to the test station and get a Show/Race car exemption form. I have never been turned down yet. A limited use insurance policy is a must to get the exemption |

Hola! Got my 308 back from service. Continental did a nice job for me. Car runs great, and they saved me some $$$ by finding a part that wasn't easily available. They did leave my car outside in the rain while it as in for service though. Anyway - I got an emissions test notice for my 308. I remember someone saying, maybe it was Bob, that if you have a limited use insurance policy that you can get a waiver or an exemption. Anyone know about this? Thanks!
