Saturday would be ok, but Sunday in all likelihood is a nogo: Interlagos GP in the midst of the day.

Well, how do we feel about this event? Forecast for the weekend ain't too good and it sure won't be warm for a stroll in the forest.

I think we should postpone to next weekend. Thoughts, comments?

It's really just an excuse to get the cars out with other owners, the track has been closed for over 30 years, but still some history there. A drive after going there is assumed. Anyway the weather doesn't look very good for this weekend but that could change.

I hate to sound so uninformed(like i am), but what is the deal with what you are trying to put together here? is it a driving event? or is the race track closing down and you just want to go check it out?

Bob, the problem with taking it as a business is the you have to show a profit 2 out of 5 years. That will never happen!!

All the best guys.

Stopped at Raceway Woods on the way home from my taxman. It's been at least 10 years since I last did this, being cold I limited my walk a lot. Little Monza ( turn at the end of the main straight ) is still very visible at this time of year. I think everyone that goes in March will enjoy themself.

A car has about six sides to shoot it from plus many angles in between, different lenses etc, don't worry. We'll make her look great!

Yeah, that sounds great to me. Calendar sounds cool but a little far off for me. I still need to get that turn signal lens taken care of. Maybe a picture from far away off to the right or something. HaHaHa. It's kind of one of those things that you know you should do but it just isn't high enough on the to do list. Hell, who am I fooling? I'm still hanging on to the dream of finding one for cheaper than $400.

Well, I guess in order to improve attendance by 20% we should go with the 29th then! Assuming the weather is agreeable.

I can already picture the symmetrically parked cars at the park: On either side a 308, then followed by 2 348 and in the middle a Mondial, hehe!

Seriously, everybody agreeing I'll take pics of each car at each event during the year. That should give us plenty to choose from in 12 months time.

I just received my calendar with shots of F Chat members. This is not the 'official' one from Rob, but the ones somebody offered a couple weeks ago and sold at Cafepress.com.

Anyway, I was thinking it would be really neat if we could come up with our (Chicagoland) calendar for next year. I'd be more than happy to take pictures of all our cars during this year's event and Meadowdale obviously would be a good starting point.

Just a thought.

DPatel - 348 Spider
Gilles27 - 328 GTS
LFilbert - Mondial 3.2 Cab.
BillB - Daytona Spyder

We would all love to see you guys turn out for what will probably be the start of a wonderful season! I know there are more cars out there. Let's go for double digits!

I just looked Meadowdale up in Yahoo maps and realized how relatively close it is for us city slickers: Basically outside of Schaumburg just taking I-90 there. So I think we should get a few more city F cars into the pool.

Gilles27, how about you? And maybe Jay Morris once he is back.

Late March early April would be a good time to look at what's left of the old gal.
This was the first track I ever ran on, back in 63/65 a gokart enduro before the Monza wall was taken out.

Bob, since you mentioned (in email) that we can at least get onto Rte 31, which was the run off area, I'm all for it. It would be cool and historic and besides, where else can you go in IL?

So I'm in. That makes two 308 on a piece of dirt road. Great...Anybody else, Buehler?

As far as I know there is no way to get a car back to the track area in an easy manner, plus the whole area is park district owned. But it would be very cool to get pics of the cars on little Monza.

Any chance we could park on any part of the racetrack?

It'd be neat to shoot a few pictures with some F cars on this historic track. Reminds me of the old oval in Monza park.

Is anyone interested in taking a walk on what is left of Meadowdale, if so we should set a date before the growing season starts this spring. If you have never heard of this great old track, try the link http://meadowdaleraceway.homestead.com/index.html
