Oops, let's try this in English one more time:

Your wife might not know this, but you are just showing what *I* call 'normal' behaviour. While in Italy for 10 days I shot more pictures on the one day in Maranello than on the rest of the trip combined.

...need more coffee...

Thanks Mike. Apparently, its not the same vehicle.

Weird coincidence, just the same.

And again, great event guys. Lots of friendly folks and beautiful cars. My wife is already ribbing me that we took more pictures that afternoon than we did the entire rest of our week long stay in Chi town.

Hey guys. I just wanted to post my thanks and congrat's for such an awesome event.

My wife and I were in Chicago for a friend's wedding and we had a post wedding brunch at the corner of Oak and Michigan. We finished lunch and walked out to all these beautiful cars. Awesome.

One question...

who owns the Tour De France? I'm curious because the car appears to be the same one sold by one of my wife's clients about a year ago and that would be a neat coincidence.

Andreas, I gotta' to have a copy of that broadcast in DVD. That's real cool! That was probably when we were talking to Jack. I'm glad I finally got to meet you guys. I missed you Bob, and Dave. I didn't get a chance to meet you. Next time then.

We missed you Bob too.

Steve, what do you mean by?: "I still have my place on Oak St."

You have a condo or a shop there?

I was looking around for a place high up to take some 'aerial' shots of the street. Was difficult as most high up places are condos. And nobody on those balconies! Sheesh, I would have paid $$$ to take a few shots from there. Eventually snuck into a residence building and took shots from the third floor. Not perfect, but better than nothing.

Was a phantastic event and thanks and kudos go to Mike Epifanio, Dave Massa and the rest of the FCA gang for putting this great event together.

I will post pictures as soon as I'm done going through the 250+ shots I took. With the weather we had, it was easy to go overboard...

David, were you there with your car? I don't think I saw it.

From a FChat perspective it was great meeting with Mike (246), Dan, Jack, Jay (Mondial 8) and Noel (360) again. I missed Chris, but heard he was there.

Last, but not least: I taped three local news broadcasts in the evening (CBS, ABC and Fox) with very brief reports about the event. Fox had a shot, where the camera panned starting on my car over a 330 and a 246 and finally comes to rest on Jay's Mondial. Priceless! If anybody wants a copy, I could burn a DVD (or VHS if you must).

Are there any more pix from todays show so I can see what I missed. I still have my place on Oak St. but live on the west coast now. I think the last time they had a show was sometime in the mid 90's when I was there. Sure is great to see it back. Hope it happens next year. I will be there.

Parking for those out of towners can be found in the Self Park garage one parallel street south of Oak (sorry forgot the name). Costs you an arm and a leg, but might be the only thing avail.

Jack,

as a participant I have to show up between 9am and 10am. Since I don't like to end up between the fire hydrant and the garbagge container, I'll try to be there early.

I take it you won't go there with your car?

Weather forecast for Sunday is bright and sunny, warm seventies. Yahoo!!!

Currently playing at the Esquire: The Italian Job (4 stars). How fitting as a backdrop, even if it is about Minis and not Ferraris.

Andreas: A Merak is a Maserati; similar to a Bora only with a V6. Body is very similar to the Bora from the doors forward. The rear has the buttresses coming down from the roof to the end of the engine cover. Mine is a 75. Not that many were imported.
I guess I will drive it up. 500 mile round trip: probably will need a rebuild when I am done! I always worry about the 28 year old Michelins on the highway too.

Mike,

a few comments:

- what is a Merak?
- yes you cannot legally drive a truck/trailer on Lake Shore Drive (that is the outer drive, which is a divided highway)
- you could e.g. drive on the Kennedy to Irving Park, take Irving all the way East, go under Lake Shore Drive to the Waveland/Marovitz golf course parking and unload, then leave the trailer there (I think that is legal) and drive to Oak Street on LSD South (about 3 miles); if you want to do that, let me know, I live nearby

Military museum at the Interstate towards Milwaukeed, just after passing into WI.

Went to Sheboygan for the weekend. My car was loaded fully with HAM gear and computers, co seat, front and back all filled up...

At the museum they told me, that Harley bikers with their bikini chicks had the same idea. So I guess I'm in good company.

Jay, you're absolutely right. Based on Mike's list, this might be THE event in Chicago this year.

Looking forward to see your Mondial again, now that it had some work done, she'll be even prettier.

Mike, you need a picture of your Ferrari(s) in your profile. Maybe I can help you with that on Oak street?

Needless to say, that I'll be taking tons of pictures during the event for all of us here. After all we need to get 12 shots for the calendar. Speaking of: Waddayatink of my new profile shot?
:-)

Can you guess where I went for the weekend?

Jack, no it is for everybody with a Maser or F car. Rare F cars are rare on this event too. Just like the one at the Italian Village, there is usually one cool/rare F from Continental and that's about it. That's not to say, that a F40 ain't cool, just not that rare, you catch my drift.

So expect a large 308 turnout. With your 328 you're normally almost by yourself, not many of those around here. And only one 308 with a whale tail...
:-)

Ghostrider, you got a Maser or Ferrari? Anyway, you have to call Mike or Massa (no, not the driver). They will then send you a sign up sheet for registration. The event costs $ 20 btw for FCA members and you'll get a plaque commemorating the event.

The thing I always think is the coolest, is the incredible backdrop of the city. There aren't many occasions where you get to see a F50 with the Hancock behind it.

There is also a concours rating of some sort and they hope to get a celebrity judge, whatever that means. Oh and a brunch will be served in a hospitality tent. Should be fun.

On June 1st FCA is bringing back an old 'tradition', their annual meet on Oak street in downtown Chicago. I have put in my sign up sheet, hope to see many of you guys there with your cars.

Upload
This is from the last time they had the event. Note the beautiful Esquire theater as the backdrop.

Upload
They even brought Mauro Forghieri (former F1 engineer) out. Here he just signed a poster for me. One of my most coveted trophies.

If you're interested, give Mike Epifanio a call (847-823 2149).
