Hi Andreas! Great pics. You'll have an email soon.

By the way, I don't know the chassis number or exact details of this particular Alfa, but I can tell you that it is a 1933 8C-2300 Monza Spider Corsa. Scuderia Ferrari dominated the Eurpoean racing scene in the early 1930s with these cars. Here's a look at the description of another of these cars taken from the 2002 RM Amelia Island auction catalogue:

Thanks Don.

I know nothing about engine detailing. Mine was done at the Lube and Spa shop on Iriving Park and Sheridan. Great place and my recommendation to all downtowners. Since they worked on my car, now they even know where to open the engine hood (they called me at home after I left the car there, hehe). But they do good work.

Nice pics Andreas! You guys do a great job of engine detailing. I'm glad I kept my hood closed - I would have been ashamed. :-)

Not knowing where that Hilton is, let's start at the intersection of Rt. 83 and 22nd St., head east on 22nd to York Rd. south on York to 31st St., west on 31st about a quarter mile or so and follow the signs.

Don, you got one. No I have never met them in person, only via email and chat. I was supposed to meet with Amar in a couple weeks in London. He lived very close to my hotel and I was looking forward to some good times in the evening.

Bob, I think that is an excellent idea. Let's bring something along.

BTW: Dunno yet what the weather will be like, but I'll be there rain or shine.

That's nice Andreas. I won't be displaying my car but I will be bringing it to the show and I'd like to have one. I'll put it behind the windshield wherever they let me park it.

I couldn't exactly tell from your post in the other section, had you met Jens or Amar?

I've put together some rememberance cards for Jens and Amar based on Ferrariartist's design. I'll be happy to pass them out to those of you who will put their cars on display at this event.

The card will fit nicely behind the windshield. I think a fitting tribute to our fallen comrades.

I won't ask anybody to do that, no pressure intended, but if you like to have one, just ask me.

:-(

still very sad

Since those of us who participate with their cars have to be there early (I believe on the grounds before 9am), we won't be able to watch the European Grand Prix.

So a plea to all of you visitors:

DO NOT TELL/GIVE AWAY THE GRAND PRIX RESULTS!!!

Thank you. It is rare for me to actually not watch a GP live, so you see how much I care about this event.

PS: Of course I realize, that 5 minutes before I drive off home, some Schmuck will walk by me and mention something about how Schumacher fought his brother, but still won after Montoya spun out.

Oakbrook is out in the suburbs, about 30 min. from the mag mile. Howeven there is an excellent shopping center about 5 min. from the polo grounds. Hopefully there will be an Enzo here this Sunday, and lots of other interesting cars

Hi all. I live about 5 hours south of Chicago and am thinking of being there this weekend.

Is Oak St. or Oakbrook very close (walking distance) from Michigan Avenue (Magnificent Mile)?
(I thought it would be good for my wife and son
to be able to do something while I'm at the show).

Will there be an Enzo and/or other supercars?

Thanks,
Ron

Sounds like its shaping up the be another GREAT event... I've chatted with other local-area folks (other marque boards) and they plan to show up as well.

Mike, let me know if you could use any help -- am available Sunday. Post any info here, and an email address -- probably best to discuss off-line.

Thanks!

"No realy we should have from 150 to 175 cars and yes we have good overnight security and better weather for this year.Should be some very interesting cars judging from the apps I'm getting and the people who have said they would be there.More to follow............"

Mike -- any possibility of publishing a "tentative lineup" of some of the more "significant" cars? Include production models if they fall into this category -- an Enzo, 550 Barchetta, Murcielago or Pagani Zonda certainly would qualify.

Also, any info for spectators ?? Do we need to get tix in advance anywhere?

Thanks.

"Post # 1000 for the Chicago area"
How do you know?

Ok, ok, just figured it out. Duh. So, congrats to Bob for post #1000 and congrats to us all for having a lively group. I love it!

I always thought it sucked living in the Midwest from a car perspective (especially when you have been to Calif), but I have to say, that overall we're not doing to bad Ferrariwise here. I guess I'd be more depressed living in North Dakota...

Do they hand out any awards/plaques just for participation at this event?

I wouldn't mind ending up next to a replica, it would be interesting to see the differences. I bet the Fiero owner sweated it a lot more than you did.

Reminds me of the first Oak Street event many years ago. They had a real Daytona spider and next to it a replica on Corvette base. For the trained eye it was easy to spot the differences, but it was mostly lost on the public. There was also some controversy whether the replica should be there at all. I think these days it wouldn't stand a chance.

I went last year and it was really cool. I don't remember if I pre-registered or if I just showed up on the day of the thing. I'm not interested in competing or anything. Of course last year they parked me next to a 308 "replica" Fiero. Ugh.
