Jason, yes, I could either edit out the URL or even this entire thread, but we are trying not to get "edit-happy." I would rather just let him know that we consider what he is doing to be spam so that he will (hopefully) refrain from doing any more of it. I figured my "Spamwich" made that exact point in a light-hearted and humorous way. Besides, someone like this might decide to become a sponsor or even just a valuable contributor at a later date. No need to chase him away or try to piss him off. |

Wayne, can't you or Rob edit his posts? Why not just take the URL out? That would solve the problem right? |

Understood. Nevertheless I think paying sponsors ought to use some courtesy in their 'spams' as well. But maybe that is a self regulating issue: If you tick off too many users with your spam, nobody wants your business regardless of your sponsoring. |

Andreas, the issue here isn't really whether or not Bob's posts annoy users or whether or not they can ignore him if they choose. The problem with spamming the site with free advertising is that it eliminates the purpose of paying sponsors and without paid advertising, there is no site. |

BTW: If a vendor just creates his own new thread advertising his products I have a lot less of an issue with it since it can be simply ignored. I get a lot more upset if we're having a nice 'conversation' and some vendor (even some sponsors from this site!) jump into the middle of it just to advertise their stuff. I think that is terribly rude and more often than not the end of that 'conversation', which really hurts the whole point of this website. Deputy Sheriff Wayne using his Moderator authority. Is that what you become after you retire as F1 champ?
Personally I don't mind the spamwiches too much, *IF* they were at least interesting. But these prices are ridiculous and the selection pretty slim. These spamwiches would definitely some mustard... |
