My nephew and I went to the Downer's Grove car show this Friday evening. We had a great dinner at an Italian place. People where really enjoying the Boxer. I saw a red 328 GTS, but couldn't meet up with the owner.......car was parked and locked. Oh well.

They might have felt sorry for your back, but certainly not for your car. That one deserves a prize!

Hi,Don.-no,that was my "cruisin buddy" Frankie,jr.-just turned 6 on August 12th. Yeah, its really his Ferrari-hes just letting me drive it until hes 18(big grin!)But,I cannot drive the "F-car" for a couple weeks-got a cast on my left arm-tore a ligament or tendon or something,so,I am stuck driving the automatic Vette for a couple weeks. But,once I get this thing off, will be glad to meet up with anyone for a cruise night,or,drive. I think the cruise nites are ending, though pretty soon. But,the drive-ins will probably be going for a while longer.

Did you have your daughter with you Frank? I think the 308 I saw had a little girl in the passenger seat.

I went last night in my 914.

Also for the DG crowd, you might want to consider eating at Founders' Hill brewpub. It's right on Main Street in the middle of everything and the food's good.

I am planning, weather permiting, to go to Chicago next weekend. My nephew, and I, will plan on going to the Downer's Grove cruise on Friday, and to the Lombard one on Saturday.

I will bring by 83 Boxer, and my nephew his 65 Griffith.

Plans call for an early arrival, about 5 PM, and go somewhere for dinner.......that way we get a good spot.

Anyone want to join us?

Hello, there.Im a new guy.I joined the local chapter of the FCA this year, and attended the Oak st. show, and Oakbrook(2nd year)I have an 81-308 red/tan do some cruise nites, locally(I live in OakbrookTerrace) I was probably the red 308 that the previous guy mentioned that he saw cruising in Downers Grove. theres a cruise nite out here practically every nite-Elmhurst,wed-Westmont,thurs.-DownersGrove,fri-Lombard,sat.Dont see any other Ferraris out there.Ive owned SEVERAL old muscle cars ,7 vettes,(got a 91 for daily driver)and this 1981 308. You can count on me to attend events.Just let me know.I bought a 14,000mile car, almost 3 years ago,and am approaching 18,000. I bought the car to drive and enjoy! Thats what theyre for, right? So,lets do some cruisin-as you all know winters in Chicago can last 6 freakin months!!! take care!! P.S. theres alot of old, neat, cool cars at the cruise nights. But,people still go "ga-ga"over beautiful, exotic Italian machinery. All I ever hear is:"LOOK!A FERRARI!" You gonna let me get all the looks? Join me!!!!

Hey Bob,

I went over to my friends detail shop in St. Charles, we cleaned up the cars really nice, started to head over there and saw the sky was dark. So we headed back to his shop and put our cars inside and took his SUV over to the show. When we got there, it started to pour out and there was only a few people there and they were scrambling to get thier cars out of there... Oh well, maybe next week???
Oh, i may be able to make the 23rd at Rookies??? My flight for Vegas isn't until sunday morning the 24th....

Skip, where is that show in Rolling Meadows?? Is it at Fair Lanes bowling alley on Kirchoff???

We should try to get a lot of F-cars at the show on Saturday Aug. 23rd at Rookies, that would be cool....

Tod, it's not far from Ed's shop.

Every Wednesday, a good show in downtown Elmhurst.

Did you see all the propoganda they left in your car, one card has a bunch of car shows through mid- October... The web site is http://www.doublekproductions.com . May be fun to get a bunch of Ferraris at one or more of thier shows.....

Looking forward to the Geneva show thursday night, i'm going to have to build a trophie case now.... :-)

I go to the Downers Grove ones frequently. They have a large number of cars and a nice cruising road right down Main Street. Also some great restaurants and easy parking.

Last time I went there was a guy cruising in a red 308 and also a red Merak on display.

I've been looking too, for car shows. A friend of mine, a Vette owner, says he sometimes goes to some sports car evening at a bar in St. Charles on Wednesday nights. He has been bugging me to bring my F-car there, i know i would be the only one and surrounded by Vette people???? He also told me he has heard of another one in Oak Brook too, not sure of the details on that one.

The other night, i met a few friends at Steak-n-Shake, decided to take my F-Car, well, they had just finished a Antique car show that night, there must have been 30 people (Mostly High School kids) standing around, well, when i pulled into that lot, it was like a swarm of bees coming at my car. I kind of stole that show away.... HAH....

I take my 308 to many of this type of show, by far the best one I go to is in Geneva on Thursday from 6-8. This one does not get as many cars as Downers Grove but much more interesting. In the last 2 weeks I have seen 4 55/57 Tbirds 2 with stick and 1 with factory 2- 4 carbs, a real Allard 3 MGTCs and a bike with a Lincoln flathead V12. And to many others, but like you mine has been the only Fcar there.

While I live in WI., I often go to Chicago and visit family (in Lisle).......always take the Ferrari.

A few weeks ago, while there, my nephew and I went to a couple of car shows....one in Downers Grove on Friday night.....and one in Lombard on Saturday night. I took my TR, and my nephew took his Griffith, to both shows......it was fun......people really liked our cars.

It seems that most of the cars there where US muscle cars, so ours where a treat!!!!!!

Why don't I see any other Ferraris there? These shows are on the main streets of the towns, with other shows, by other suburbs, on different nights of the week.

Don't you Ferrari owners, in Chicago, care to go to some good car shows? Or am I missing something?
