Hi Philip,

I have the form you filled out. You've got the yellow 308 right? The receipt is still on the form, and it doesn't say credit card nor "contact me when finished", so I guess you paid by cash? Thats probably why it didn't get sent out was because it still had the receipt on it. Let me know if this is correct and I'll get it out to you.

Philip,

If you paid by credit card, yours went out a few days later, as we did not bill the credit cards until it was complete. I did not receive your email. Send your contact info to me at [email protected]. I'll make sure you receive it. Which car did you have there?

Tod, that all sounds totally awesome!

Yeah, when Star Wars came out, a German magazine made a table top photo contest and I participated (I was about 12). And I even made it into the top ten. The scene were some space ships landing on a planet ruled by dinosaurs. My friend (also 12) was lying under the set 'smoking' a cigar to blow smoke through holes, faking the space ships exhaust.

Now that I'm a bit older and technology has advanced I'm doing the same thing over again:

A highly modified Shuttle model from my movie:
Upload

And part of the Space Station set getting ready for shooting:
Upload
This used to be my bed room...

Oh and before somebody rings the OT alarm bell:

My movie does feature a Ferrari. 348 spider to be precise. Driven by yours truly on the strip of Vegas.

Hey Andreas, I grew up with a 16mm Bolex in my hand.. Around the time the first Star Wars came out in the 70's i got hooked on special effects. I made a bunch of special effects with the Bolex. I was able to change the speed and a was also able to rewind the film and make multiple exposures. I did some real cool experiments. It was nice when my dad had all the good stuff too and was able to get the film and developing done very cheap... :-) While you were starting fires to cars, i was having space ships sore through space in a laser fight and blowing up... I made the explosions using flash powder mixed with chopped up firecracker fuses, with an electric ignitor in a bottle cap against a black backdrop and running the camera at about 100 fps. That 100ft roll was gone in 30 secs.... hahaha... But when i got the film back, it looked awsome.... I also used magnetic sound film, i was able to edit some good sound to it after i edited it..... I miss those days.... It kept me out of trouble, now i have a Ferrari.... HAHA...

Actually we all got lucky Sean didn't have his car: I bet he shot some great footage out the co's window.

Yup, I'd like to second the verdict on the DVD. Very cool and professional. Sean, you gotta explain to me one day how on Earth you made those see through graphics of the Ferraris. That most have been a ton of work.

I grew up with a 8mm Bolex in my hand. That was a camera with a spring you had to wind up to shoot something like 30 seconds. Was fun though. One of my first 'action' movies was putting a little 275 GTB model on fire and shoot the sequence. I was nuts then and never learned a darn thing since...

Sean, That was an awsome DVD you put together there that we saw at Bob's house. The graphics and special effects were top notch at the begining along with the audio you added to it also... As i told you on saturday, i grew up with 16mm film to video with my dad. Always had a nitch for that stuff... I think you mentioned once, we should get another F-Car get together and meet at your shop for a tour, that would be cool! Also, it's too bad you didn't have your car on saturday, i wouldn't have been the only black sheep then..... ;)

Ahhh, now I remember!

The work was done at Continental, wasn't it? I know you had the clutch done there.

I'm sure Gary will stand behind it.

Possibly some lube got onto a belt. I had that happen to me when I had an A/C recharge. Compressor oil dripped onto a belt, and in short order it was fried.

Skip,

As I mentioned in earlier posts, I had a belt come off, the one for the waterpump and alternator. I just had this put on about 3 weeks ago. So after I saw smoke coming out of the back and saw my temp gauge pinned, I happened to be going to my folks house and was almost there, so I got it there, parked it, and had it towed after the holiday in to the shop that had replaced the belt. I certainly didn't want to drive it in and cause more damage. Hopefully they will stand by their work and I shouldn't have to pay anything, and hopefully it will be ready by Friday so I can take it to Monroe St.

Hope to see you there!

Andreas,

Yes, I'm familiar with Astro Labs. One of my film colorists, Peter, used to work there. They just got bought out recently by Filmworkers club. Corporate culture has changed. Anyway, I'd love to hear about your film in progress. If you're into this stuff, you'll really love our studio, just from an architectural design standpoint, its all about films. Hopefully you'll come by some time. Hmm, to at least get back on topic, or at least post something about cars, mine was just towed in today, so hopefully will know more tomorrow!

Sean, I used Astro something on Erie street downtown. They're pretty good. Used them in the past.

BTW: I'm an avid DV videographer (or whatever a guy with a camcorder and a NLE PC is called) myself. Working on a full feature film right now. Painful. So we might have quite a few things to talk aside the broken belt. Sorry to hear that.

See you at Monroe!

Andreas,

No offense taken! Funny you should mention 35mm racing film, because we have been transferring quite a bit of film related to racing recently, although a lot of Indy, not GP or F1. Just out of curiosity, who did you use for the transfer? If this is getting way off topic, you can email me. I look forward to seeing you again, as well as many of the other nice folks I met at Oak Brook and Prancing Horse Roundup. I'll be at Monroe Street, hopefully with my car (lost a belt on Friday that was just replaced a few weeks ago, by the time I saw smoke, temp gauge was max...) We'll see if I can get it in and out of shop by Friday. You should probably have your DVD by then, so constructive criticism is welcome, stop by and say hi, if the car is there, its a black 308 GTS QV, if not, and you forgot what I look like, I'll be one of the only FCA members walking around with a long blonde pony tail!

Sean, welcome to the board!

Didn't mean to offend you. Must have been my usual Chicago paranoia caused by living in Crook County.

Thanks for the intro to you and your business. Very interesting. Had I know that earlier I could have sent you the 35mm film from the 1963 GP of Germany at Nuerburgring your way for transfer. Too late now, but I'll keep your company in mind. Wasn't the first time I needed a professional shop for movie work.

Now REALLY looking forward to get the DVD and hope to meet you sometime soon again.

PS: If nothing else this thread gave us an update and FChat a new member. Even an owner member, tataa!

Hi Everybody,

Just joined up here. Yes, the DVD has just been completed, nothing "fishy" going on here! Everybody who prepaid for it will receive it via regular mail. We'll probably ship next week. Yes, I know its closer to 60 days, but as Mike said, this was more of a favor/personal interest to make the DVD. I am an owner and FCA member, but I also own a company in Schaumburg called Screen Time Images (www.screentimeimages.com) which mainly restores classic movies and TV shows and then releases them on DVD (we just restored "Becket" with Peter O'Toole - some of which was shown at this last year's Academy Awards), but we also offer traditional video and audio services. So I had the resources to make this DVD as a pet project, although there was an internal cost, which, unless we sold several hundred copies (about 35 so far), comes out of my pocket for the love of the beautiful italian machines. That being said, I have a day to day business to run, and this project was done on the side, so I apologize for the slight delay in completion. We have been looking for investors in our company, and have spent much of the last few months in boring accounting meetings.

Anyway, I'm sure you'll all enjoy the DVD, a fair amount of time was put into it doing graphic design, and some 3D animations, including a feature of the F50 which we saw at the show. Also Bob Campen wins for the best quote on the video saying how owning the Ferrari is "the accumulation of a dream". I'm with you. And Andreas is there with his wing and luggage and all the good stuff from the day. I've attached a still image from the main menu animation.

As far as ordering it, I believe Mike will be setting something up through the FCA web site, but in the mean time you can call me at 847-534-9000 to place an order. It's $30. We are shipping a few VHS copies for the people that preordered, but are not taking any more VHS orders.

Thanks for all your patience!Upload

Copy that Mike, thanks for the update.

I was a tad concerned because it is past his time estimate and I have never met the guy. For all I knew he could have had me right then and there. Good to know, that he is 'clean'.

Looking forward to the DVD now.
