A scene from Vanilla Sky or Gumball Ralley? No, it is the FCA on a Sunday morning:
"Should we arrest the driver for what he did to this 308?"
I won't forget you guys.
Rick's beauty:
What a great day it was!
Despite all the doomsayers on FChat, it has not yet exploded:
...with its interior loud as ever:
Way better parking spot than last year.
I knew about Red Mist and Red Eye, but this one is new:
"Who wants to marry my dad?". Nope different guy, better car.
I took some more pictures, but leave those to Dave for putting up at the FCA site. |

Dave, thanks. Yeah, I'll make you a copy and would be happy to get a copy of last year's tape, which was the first event my car ever attended under my ownership. |

Andreas, You da man! I caught a glipse of the 5:00 PM NBC news coverage but didn't have the VCR running at the time. The news coverage on the event was a bit weak this year. But more than 2001, which was zero. I have a good collection of news coverage on previous Monroe St. events that I have edited on VHS tape. Maybe you can use it for your project. I'll be glad to trade a copy, for a copy of last nights coverage. Let me know. Thanks for the pic CD. I'll post them as soon as I get your CD. Dave |

I apologize for not being able to attend...it sounds like it's a GREAT event. I am up for anything that will make a sick kid happy. I had 2 other family commitments that I could not get out of. (Mandatory parental attendence for daughters catechism class meeting) Then,to the Miseracordia Home,on the far north side ( I have a brother in law thats a resident there, and wife would be VERY upset with me if I didn't attend) But,hopefully, next year I can go. But,it sounds like the kids, and, you guys had a great time! |

The NBC broadcast was in the 5pm news. I got it on tape, but it is very, very brief. Nevertheless it does show several cars including Dave's silver 308 and my winged beauty. I'm even in there in two shots, but it is hard to recognize, it is so brief (another frame by frame study for Michelle). Not bad for my 308: I'm 2 for 2 now with the coverage at the Oak Street event, hehe.
Sean, there are more events left in the FCA hat for this year, especially the October 5 Lake Forest concours. Actually my favourite event. Dave, I'll burn you a CD. I shot so many pictures, that it would be too much for FChat. PS: Had technical difficulties last night, so no pictures yet. Have to wait another day. |

Just watched the 10PM news on NBC, nothing on the show. Was it on earlier at 4:30 or 5PM? Anyway, the look on the most of the kids faces who got a ride was just precious. The best reaction came after the show. Skip, Dave and I hung out to shoot the after the show while waiting for my wife to get back from shopping (finally...) but right after Dave left, this guy and his wife came up to Skip and I to talk about the cars. We talked for about 5 minute and he said it was his childhood dream for a 308. He asked to sit in Skip's car, and when he got out, well, I have not seen a bigger, ear-to-ear, -eating grin in my whole life. He had his hands on the steering wheel pretending to drive and everything. I don't know if he was making revving sounds while in the car, but I wouldn't be surprised. His childhood came back to him in a rush in about 10 seconds. Anyway, great show Mike, great food, nice variety with the band, although they could've played a few more italian songs. So now ends the summer for official shows, now lets set up an official club drive! 50 cars up in Wisconsin or western suburbs/cornfields would be a great time.... |

Ditto here Dave, and kudos to Mike for orchestrating yet another great event. How he managed to arrange for a sunny, rainless day, is beyond my comprehension! Giving rides to the kids was fulfilling. I hope they enjoyed it as much as I did. What a wonderful day! |

Hats off to the FCA Central States for a great event! But what happened to Mario ? I liked the new band, they were really upbeat. Nice change. The highlight of this event are the kids in my opinion. It's a good feeling that we can, if only for a few minutes, take their minds off their situation. I'm posting a few pics, the balance will be posted to the www.fcacentralstates.org photo gallery. Andreas: If you would like to donate any photos, I'll be glad to post them. Pics of drivers with kids: #1 Who's the driver ? #2 I am #3 Andreas Forrer (Thanks for reminding me to remove the lens cap) #4 Skip Williamson Dave

Quick Newsflash: Check out NBC tonight. They had a camera guy there today who shot a bunch of footage. Including some of original 308 Schedoni luggage...

Yet again another great event! Special thanks and kudos go to Mike Epifanio and Rick Schaefer for putting together this nice opportunity to show Chicago the lovely products of Maranello. Weather was fantastic and the food and wine from the Italian Village (the oldest Italian restaurant in town!) again a gourmet's delight. Having had the chance to give some younger (and older...) kids a ride around an almost deserted downtown was an extra joy for us drivers. I always feel a tad narcistic about showcasing my car, but if it serves a higher and better purpose, then I feel less guilty. Speaking of guilt: Wanted to apologize to the bystanders for my final getaway. For the first time ever I applied too much throttle for the 90 degree righthander out of the parking lot and got her sideways. I swear to God I didn't do it to show off. Honestly. Luckily I applied enough countersteer to catch her, but felt embarrassed afterwards. So my apologies again. PS: Pictures will follow tomorrow in abundance. |

Next Sunday, September 7th. http://www.fcacentralstates.org/events.asp To give you some idea, here some shots from past events at the Italian Village:
PS: Just realized, that this time it does not conflict with the Monza GP! Hurray, we're making progress. |

Some of the kids from the hospital will be comming for lunch and after we will take them for a ride around the downtown area. They realy get excited about it.The last time we did this a little boy named Patrick was there and had a two o'clock kemo treatment,he refused to go until he had a ride in a Ferrari. It put a smile on his face at a good time. |

Mike, what's the deal on the drive with the kids? I'd be happy to help a kid out. I lost my niece to cancer when she was a kid. |

Don, this is a great event! You should make any effort to join: They block off the Monroe street section in front of the Italian Village (between Italian Village and Bank 1). Two rows of cars, which means space is limited and you gotta get your car there early. Beautiful backdrop with the city sky rises. The usual suspects bring their cars, normally with something really cool from Continental (just like on Oak Street). Lunch is served at the Italian Village. Don't know the details for this year, but normally it is free for FCA members who brought a car. And it is great food, believe me. Plus of course good FCA company. Last year this was my first event as an owner. Mike was nice enough to keep me a spot despite my late arrival (I was working that Sunday). We drove up and felt like movie stars parting the 'sea' of spectators. I also remember how Skip got nervous about my parking and not scratching another door etc. Yeah right, as if. He hasn't seen my parking space at home: I learnt to park on a dime... Oh and the of all: You get to annoy everybody else by telling them the score from the Monza GP...That's about my only complaint about this event. Why do we keep putting them on 'sacred' sundays where there is a GP? Anyway, hope you all can join us. I heard from Mike, that his list is filling up quickly, so hurry or a Maser will snatch up your place! |

If anyone is planning on attending the Monroe St. event and has not signed up yet plese contact me.We have a limited amount of space for Ferrari parking so you need to reserve a spot. Also we will have children coming from the cancer and cardiac units of Childrens Memorial Hospital for rides in Ferraris. If you want to be a driver let me know.Don't let the kids down. |
