Forgot where, but I was once with my old Ford on a piece of 66 nearby Chicago. It was only one turn left, maybe 100 yards, but it was orig.

Let's have a separate 66 thread.

Andreas, that would be very cool. Take picture at the "start" sign. Also, out in Burr Ridge,or Willowbrook. By Route 55 and 83. there's a small stretch of Rt. 66 (original) along the "frontage road" of Rt.55. And,there's a couple good restaraunts there, too. "Del Rheas Chicken Basket" was an original, restaraunt,"diner" type, that was there then, and is still there now. Really good food. Old fashioned Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes...stuff like that. Haven't been there in a while... And,I BELIEVE that they have Rt.66 signs up around there, too.

Speaking of Route 66:

Would love to get together and do some photo shoots on a nearby section of route 66. Heck, we could even put a bunch near the 66 End/Start sign on Congress and Michigan Ave. downtown.

Route 66 has a very romantic ring to it for Europeans and it would make a nice shot.

Any takers?

Hey,I'm workin' on it! maybe next year! If I ever get my achin' back "fixed" . Was thinking about taking a couple weeks and taking my time, drive to Phoenix,Az., via whats left of old Route 66. My brothers are too lazy to fly up here to see my Ferrari, SO...I GUESS I'll have to drive it down there! LOTS and LOTS of endless, curvy, hilly roads out there...wouldn't want to come back to Chicago...(the car,not me!) A trip like that would be "an instant" 4-5,000 miles! The drive...:-), my back...:-(

Yes,I did take some pictures. But it was with one of those disposable cameras, and dark out. But,I used a flash, hope that they'll come out. If not,I'll try again at 19,000! I took one when we left,17,992. Another at 17,999,and again at 18,000. I have to get my wife's ,"good camera" fixed.

Well,I did it, My car turned 18,000 miles today.(tonite) I was going to take my son out, tonight,to drive through the last Elmhurst Cruise nite. Then, had second thoughts. The road construction crew poured "oil" and sand all over the recently paved road,in front of my house, that they didn't finish last year. They paved it last week, but, have to do one last "Top" coat, and then it's totally done. Well, they oiled and sanded the street, and told me that they were going to finish the paving this morning. but,for some reason, didn't do it today. So,I changed my mind about going tonite. But,at about 7:30PM, Junior was bugging me about going. I checked the road, and the "oil" was dry. So,we went. (not being too anal ...but...do NOT want "oil" and sand up into the bottom of my car. Any of them, actually)When we pulled away, the odometer was at 17,992. I brought along a camera. By the time we got to Elmhurst, was at 17,996. It was going to be a close one. On the way back,at Butterfield Rd. and Spring,in Elmhurst,we turned over to 18,000. Didn't hurt a bit! And,the really nice thing about it was that I had my little boy with me,and he got to "experience the thrill!"? Anyway,I am just letting you guys know that I made it through,O.K.:-) (by the way,I am just being silly about this . But,when the big 20,000 comes around,it could be serious!) :-)...P.S.- if anyone wants to meet up somewhere, this Friday nite, and drive over,or through the last Downers Grove cruise nite,I am game.Just post here where and what time. Imagine...a line of Ferrari's! for the muscle car and hotrod weary masses!
