Andreas. I got one of those dashplaques last week It's white plastic looking card, abot 3" x 4",with double stick tape on the back, which, will NEVER be used to attach it to the dash of MY Ferrari! It's "cute" but,I have far nicer ones from the various Corvette runs, shows and events thet I've attended, through the years. And,just has "Hooters cup series III" on it,and some "milestones". 100 years of Harley. 50 years of Corvette. 100 years for Ford. And,20 years for Hooters. |

Let's see what the weather will be like. Also the first 50 cars at Hooters will get a dash plaque (whatever that is). Am I sounding to desperate? Maybe. |

Speaking of Hooters shows. What ever happened to Don? He seemed very interested in going to any/all of these shows, too. Don,are you out there? |

Take a gander at the next post below and see what you guys think. If we met early enough,say,8 or 9 AM,we could also make it out to Schaumburg for the Hooters show. It would make for a nice day, seeing as they are numbered. But,I think it could work. Any thoughts? |

We could probably easily fit it all in. Guesstimating... Depending on where we met.I dont know, say, for instance,by Buckingham Fountain-? Pix? Cruise up LSD to Montrose.10-15 min. Take some fantastic pix of the skyline in the background.10-15 min. Head back down to the start Rt.66 sign.10-15 min.(LSD south, get off at Michigan Av.) More pix.10-15 min. Drive out as much of "old" 66 as there is... (I am thinking we can take Ogden, which is Rt.34,all the way out, through Berwyn,to Rt.43-Harlem. To old Joliet Rd.west, out to Burr Ridge. But,there's alot of traffic lights that could break us up-?)or, all the way out I-55 to 355...maybe an hour or so,with a stop. Then, head up North on 355 to Schaumburg. Another 1/2 hour. Just add in the stops in between, such as maybe a stop on the old, actual, original stretch thats by 55 & 83. It really wouldn't take all that long...a few hours maybe, and with stops in between, quite a comfortable drive. And,plenty of photo ops. And ,we wouldn't be "stuck" at the Hooters show, either. It all depends on what time you guys want to start. I am up for it,though! Now that would be cool...a bunch of Ferrari's cruising up LSD,(our own,"mini" Chicago GP) then out old 66,then,all arriving at the same time at a car show.Would make for a nice day...and,there aren't tooo many left! Count me in! And,hopefully,my videocamera will be back from the shop by then, too.(this is just a loose plan, but, once we all agree on what time to start, and where. We can draft up a better one. |

The beginning of Rte 66 would btw make for a great portrait shot, of which we need a few for the calendar. |

The 19th would work for me... Lets pray for nice weather like we had this weekend... Maybe, who ever shows, we can just drive through Chicago and stop at places with good picture backgrounds for the calendar ??? The heck with the Schaumburgs hooter, unless we crash the party like we did at Steak and Shake that one time and have our own little mobile car show. I saw the one at Downers today and most of those cars, like the Blue sunbird with the blue painted 1.8L engine has been at all the car shows. I guess he doesn't get enjoyment out of driving it like we do the Ferraris....

Maybe we can do both? If we do the Rte 66/LSD thing early enough, we might have enough time to make it to Schaumburg. Anyway, who else is in? |

Well,if you're asking me to choose...then ,all I can say is this... Where would you like to meet for an LSD/Route 66 cruise,on the 19th.? I would MUCH RATHER DRIVE ,then SIT! |

Stops along the LSD way could be the new Bears stadium (as backdrop for pictures), Belmont harbour, Wrigley Field stadium, or high rise if we want to have pictures from 'above' and the pink hotel at the end of LSD (from that Eagles song). However is the 19th the day of the Schaumburg Hooters show? Do we have a conflict? |

Well, since I spent the day "refreshing" my wax job from June. I guess that I'll have to go,weather permitting, ofcourse! Hopefully it won't rain. I am planning on doing some drives the next few weekends if anyone else is intereseted. We can still do the Route 66 drive.Maybe, start out early on a Sunday morning. Do a quick drive up L.S.D. to Montrose Harbor for some nice city pix with the skyline in the background. Then, head back to the Loop and try to find the "Begin Route 66" sign and take it from there. And,I was thinking about a drive up Route 12 to Lake Geneva, say, for lunch or something. And,possibly, out to Galena when the leaves really start changing.I didn't really think that it was going to start getting so cold so soon! My Ferrari loves the cold air,and runs superb in it. My old broken up bod.,however, has a different train of thought! Maybe we'll still get an "Indian Summer!" |

It's supposed to be a high of 50 on Sunday, not good, as is the normal thing for the KK shows, they stop registration at 11 or 12, awards between 3:30 and 4, 4 to 5 hours in the cold does not sound like a fun time |

Yes,I taped it,too and with no commercials. If your tape started up right away,as it was in the very beginning of the program. A bunch of excited, perhaps even overzealous fans, were leaning up against a fence, and, aparently, all too close and it fell forward, giving Michael a bit of a morning scare! |

Dunno what you're referring to Frank, but I guess I have to watch the tape of the race first. To answer, no. Luckily I got a few more subtle leads into the team to get a sig. |

Thanks Frank. Made it safely back. Had to remove that famous fuse panel when the lights went out in pouring rain... You guys should do this trip one day too: I felt like a rock star driving into the infield of Indy with my special Corrall pass. People celebrate you driving to and in the stadium. I'm not kidding: There are gazillions of Ferrari fans and they honk and wave and snatch pictures of you and your car. They all come up and want to chat and thought it was very cool that somebody actually drives his Ferrari here. Even a State trooper stopped me to chat. Hey said with a smile: "Sir, I must confiscate your vehicle, hand me the keys please." He also mentioned I was the fourth Ferrari he saw that morning and thinks we're nuts driving them there because of the risk of theft. But quite frankly in the guarded corrall parking I felt a lot safer then leaving it downtown in Chicago. Anyway, it was a blast! Oh and the drive through the city with a police escort, which stopped ALL traffic other than Ferraris? Awesome! At first it takes some getting used to blow through a red light intersection with a policeman on a bike next to you, but of course they want you going, so you follow the newly laid law...Again rock star feeling came up. Also as soon as everybody spotted my car, they ran for their cameras. Oh wait, maybe it was because the F40 was right behind me?
I ended up parking at the gathering right next to the F40, so I guess accidentally my car made it onto a lot of pictures and news coverage again, cheeky monkey that it is. |

Thanks,Skip. It was locally that I saw that car. And,Andreas, thats what I was thinking,in regard to using the fuse panel cover. Because,it is very easily unnattached,carry-able anywhere, and you can keep it even IF you ever sell your car,and put a replacement one on. can put it on your wall, too! Andreas, have a fun and safe trip to Indy! |

Fuse panel cover? Hmm, Frank, take a wild guess what piece of leather Arnoux signed for me.
Yup, spot on. PS: I believe Schumi signs all the Enzos (not sure on that or whether it is an 'option'). But on the outside. Well that's nice. Until you get hit or something and you need a repaint. That's why I opted for something from the interior. Worst case I could even take the fuse panel with me to an other 308. |

I was thinking of the fuse panel cover. Black leather with the 308GTSi badge on it,and signed with one of those silver "Flair" type pens. Would look pretty cool. I saw a Lambo., signed by Mario Andretti that way once. Anyway, have a great time in Indy. I'll be watching. Ferrari has got to get some more points to try to take over the constructors! |

Frank, getting Schumi to autograph your car isn't that far fetched. I had a similar idea and got it kinda covered: I didn't want Schumis sig on my car as it was not built/tested when he was around (he was still driving a go kart at his father's track in 84). But Arnoux, Villeneuve, Pironi and Alboreto were. From that list sadly only Arnoux is around and I got a chance of meeting him at Goodwood this summer. This was planned so I brought along a piece of leather for the interior of my car. He signed it! So once I get started on redoing the interior of my car, that piece of leather will get imbedded. Of course you could do a similar trick with other parts, e.g. the discs of the cooling closures. I've used this trick in the past to get my collection of space models signed as well. You can't bring the whole bulky and fragile model, but pieces always fit in your pocket. |

You are correct, that DEFINITELY is a nice Fall drive. I need to get Michael Schumacher to autograph my car so that I can sell it on E-Bay for an insane amount of money. (NEVER!!! NOT IN A MILLION YEARS!! JUST KIDDING!! I LOVE THIS CAR.WAITED TOO LONG TO GET IT. ) |

No,not an obssession. Actually, haven't been to one in many years. Don't like all that deep fried stuff. I think that they deep fry everything there! But,no. No obssession. Just a red blooded American male who loves cars and girls, and not in that order! And when you put the two together, you get a doubly good time. Maybe some good photo ops, too. Thank-you for that website, though. I do appreciate it! Actually, more interested in taking some nice Fall drives than sitting at a car show all day. But,they say they are having 30 classes, and 70 Trophys at the Hooters shows. So,seeing that all the effort that I put into cleaning my car for the Oakbrook show went unnoticed this year, maybe I'll try my luck at a Hooters! ( my car is STILL clean from June!) |

Did anyone go to the Hooters show on Higgins Rd. in Chicago, last Sunday? I am DEFINITELY going to the Hooters show in Downers Grove,on Butterfield Rd. on Sunday,Oct.5th. If anyone wants to meet there early...I believe it starts at 9:00AM.(to 4:00PM) I will be there. There were some other shows and stuff that I posted on the other thread. Also, we should definitely do something for the Route 66 thread that Andreas started. And,perhaps some nice,Fall drives. maybe up Route 12,to Lake Geneva-? We could stop in Lake Zurich on the way. Andreas, didn't you say that you are from Switzerland, originally? No,it wont be like Zurich, but maybe some Swiss stores and/or Restaraunts.-? And,a nice drive up Route 12 to Lake Geneva. check out the Fall colors. Another nice ride is what was suggested on another thread,up along Sheridan Rd.,along the North Shore, through the Ravines, and winding roads, all the way up to Wisconsin. Then, maybe a bite to eat at the good old Brat Stop-? Or, a nice drive out to Galena-? Just a few suggestions, but, times a wasting, and before we know it,there's going to be snow on the ground! If anyone is interested, please post, and we can try to organize something. Da sooner,Da better ! |
