If you ever come across a wrecked Daytona, let me know. That could be an interesting project.

Just got 60 new photos from the "Wrecked Exotics" website. I signed up with them, and they E-mail me new photos every week,or so. Enough to make a grown man cry! Lots of 308/328 potentials for 288 rebodys!

I just got some ideas in a thread that I posted under"General discussion" for "Hot Rodding" a 308. Lots of great ideas and suggestions there. Maybe, getting another 308 to "HotRod" would be an interesting idea.

Yes,I've seen alot of cars "For Sale" for thousands, even tens of thousands less than what was invested into parts,restoration,etc... Actually, one of the 'vettes that I bought and sold. Was a 1981,pro-street car. 383 stroker dynoed at 550HP.Brodix aluminum heads.Tunnel ram.The works.2400stall. 4:88 rear end. All this car needed was to be tubbed, and it was done. The guy that I bought it from had most of the work done by some drag racing shop. Which was very expensive. He sunk alot of money into the car. When it was For Sale,it took him months and months to finally sell it,to me,as it was a "specialty car" that had very limited commercial appeal.I got that car for 6K,painted it. Cleaned it up really nice, and sold it for12K,to a guy who was going to tub it and go the whole nine yards with the car. So,I got a good deal on a car that the seller lost a ton of money on. And the same story on several other cars. So,it's really got to be a "labor of love" more than a means of trying to make some money. I know. But,I had good luck with all of the Corvettes that I bought, fixed up,and sold. Always made some money. But,I think that if I decide to "fix up" a Ferrari. It would be more so as a "driver car",thats always "For Sale",if the price is right,or,the cars take a huge upturn. I am fortunate that I wouldn't be pressured,to "have" to sell a car like that. But,after looking at "wrecked exotics",see that our already somewhat rare cars, are getting "rarer" every day!

Frank here are a couple of examples and these with cheap parts. My 73 MGB did all the work myself had a buddy shoot it, had 16500 in a 9000 tops car. 73 Vega winter project, pro-street, once again did all my own work including fabing the frame, this one on a budjet, had 6800 in it sold at 5000. And both these had cheap and easy to get parts.

Well,as I would really like to try to turn a profit on it. Agreed, with my bad back and the way the market is right now for these cars. But,I was more interested in doing it to keep busy...something to do. I have always LOVED working on cars. And,the new ones are too difficult, for me,with all that computerized junk. And,since I've been into Ferrari's the past few years, thought that it would be a fun project. Maybe, even to get as a "daily driver",so to speak,to keep the mileage on my '81 below 20K.

Frank-

It's hard to turn a profit on an F-car doing that....and, with your back......forget it!

Ther's a guy out in North Phoenix,AZ. that runs a Ferrari car and parts business called,"Italian Design and Racing".His name is Fred "Butch" Hooper. He parts out "totalled" Ferrari's. Sells new and used parts, and after-market(nice)parts. Sells cars that are wrecked, alittle or alot, and some that just need some "TLC". And 288GTO rebodies. I've been out to his place several times, and he's got a really nice set-up going. He is very knowledgable about Ferrari, too. Check out his website; www.italianauto.com if you are ever looking for any parts or anything. I was thinking of getting one of his "not too damaged",or,"needs TLC",for a winter project. Just to keep busy over the Winter, and in Spring. Paint it,sell it. And,get another one. I used to do that with Corvettes. And had alot of fun, fixing them up,driving them while they're for sale, selling them, then doing it all over again. But,after my last accident,am alot more limited to what I can do. And,with a Ferrari,it's alot different for parts and rebuilds and stuff. But,I'll see.

I'll check it out, so long as we all keep our cars out of there... ;)

I assume they sell used parts then??

Also,Tod,I told you about that website,http://www.wreckedexotics.com that has all the exotic car wrecks. I got it from one of the regular FChatters, and I "signed up" for their E- mailing list. They E-mailed me today with some new exotic car crash pix. At the rate that these cars are getting wrecked, our cars will be worth millions by the time that we retire!:-)
