Sounds good...but,I would bet that we make much better time! I do believe that they have how long it took, posted on the plaque on "The Rock".And,it took most of the day to complete.

Well, after the show taping is over we could reenact the race and head out to Evanston, taking the scenic route on LSD.

I know. Isn't it cool to know that the very first,"Official" automobile race, ever held in the United States. Was held RIGHT HERE in our own Chicago! And,not in So.Cal.

The fact, that there is even a racing tradition with this rock makes it even better. I like taking my car to places that connect to racing history. It felt like driving into Walhalla as I arrived at the Indy stadium. Something sacred about these places and taking your Ferrari there.

Yes,weather permitting, you can count me in,too. I have been meaning on going down for the last few years. But,never did. I'll be looking forward to driving in on the Eisenhower at full speed on Thanksgiving morning. Probably won't be barely any traffic at all. It's a VERY RARE opportunity, these past few years! I can remember when...before all of the Suburban Sprawl that we have now, when the Eisenhower ran pretty good all of the time, just a little bit slow around rush hour times. But,was good the rest of the time. Now,forget it! It's constantly crawling, slow, bumper to bumper, all day long. :-(

Ok, good enough. I'll be there. Bright and early at 8am or so. Maybe I'll bring some of my rocketry paraphenelia...

Andreas,THAT is the show that I was talking about yesterday,at "The Room". It's in the "Motorsports Unlimited" thread in this Chicagoland FChat, that I put in a while ago. It is hosted by Mr.Bill Wildt, who hosts a weekly,Cable access TV show called,"Motorsports Unlimited". And,he goes to "The Rock" every Thankgiving morning. "The Rock" is just that...a big rock, with a bronze plaque on it. It commemorates the very first Automobile race ever held in America, which was on Thanksgiving day,in either the late 1800's,or,very early 1900's. It started there, which is on the west side, basically,of the Museum of Science and Industry. And went up to Evanston, and back. Remember, back then, cars only had a few horsepower. So,it took quite a while to complete. Anyway,Mr.Wildt goes there every Thankgiving to film a couple shows there, and,he puts EVERYONE who makes the effort to come down there,on his TV show. But,he starts filming at 8 or 9AM. And,people start showing up as early as 6 or 7AM! (plenty of time to get back home to watch Football, and eat Dinner). I was talking to him about doing a show at one of the Ferrari events. Preferably, the Oakbrook show. It's a pretty good "local type" cable access show. Touted as "Chicago's longest running, most watched, most talked about Cable access show". And,it's been on for 16 years. Bill Wildt is MORE than passionate about cars, motorcycles, and motorsport. He used to race cars and motorcycles in his younger years. I've talked to him several times, and he's a fantastic guy. You would REALLY be interested in talking to him,as you are in to rockets. He actually has a motorcycle with some kind of little rocket engines on it,that he say's, makes 6000,(yes, that is Six Thousand) Horsepower! He used to bring it out to local car shows. BUT...NOT starting it up!

Thank's to Frank's "Chicagoland Motorsports News" I came across a car show on November 27 at the Museum of Science and Industry. Does anybody know more details about this?

Unless we have some snow on the streets by then, I'm planning on going/participating. Anybody else?
