Jack, yes I know and I have found such a place. We're in good shape again. Drawback is that now I have to deal with the shipping and handling and also I carry now the risk of an overproduction. That's why I'd like to know from everybody how many they want. Once those are gones, they're gone. So how many for you Jack?

Another option is to self-publish. We're not trying to turn profits off of Ferrari's name--merely pay production costs. There are web-based photo sites that make calendars.

Andreas. You probably already know, but, just in case. There are some 2004 events listed, already,on the L.F.S.C. website. Also,do you have the Oak St. and Oakbrook event dates yet for 2004? Maybe, also can check with Continental for anything. They had an "open house" this past June. Maybe, they already have one scheduled for '04.

Thanks Mark for the numbers and dates. They will go in there. Especially if you plan on getting a big number like 10, pls let me know or there won't be enough. I have to admit I'm trying to hedge my bet (with this publisher I buy all upfront, all risk is with me), so I won't have too many printed. That's why it is important that people give me their numbers (which I won't hold against any of you).

Andreas,
I'll take 10. Also, would like to include the Classics and Chrome car show dates of April 17 and 18 in Rockford. My "purchase anniversary" is June 23,2002, should you choose to include them.

I think we'll have them by the end of November. I'm currently on a two week waiting period to give our president from the FCA central section (Mike Epifanio) time to sort the 2004 calendar (the insertion of the Indy and Montreal GP has caused a shift in the otherwise firm dates). I'd like to include as many FCA dates in this as possible. So hopefully I'll have them for the Thanksgiving event at the rock.

I'll also have a bunch of them at the FCA X-mas party in December. Everybody whom I don't have to ship the calendar to I already like to thank in advance...

You don't have to send me mine. I'd prefer to just meet up for another drive and lunch to collect my copies. :-) WEATHER PERMITTING,ofcourse! :-) When are you expecting these to be ready?

Thanks Frank, I love the idea about the car's anniversaries. I'll put that in.

SO: PLEASE SEND IN YOUR CARS ANNIVERSARIES/BIRTHDAYS FOR THE CALENDAR DATES.

(Bruce Wellington Mode - OFF). The price will be $ 15 a piece because of the amount of calendars we'll order, can't go lower than that. However you'll also incur some shipping charges (you would have anyway) as now I have the dubious honor of running to the post office for you guys. Oh well, that's the price of having a pet project.

Andreas.I will be good for AT LEAST 4-5 copies...probably more. Also, thought that if you put the owner of each cars' name under the photo,or on it,somewhere,it would "release" you from any "liability" from Ferrari. I mean. There are, literally, hundreds of car calenders out there. And,I am willing to bet that they all did not have to get permission from any of the auto manufacturers. But,it sounds like you've got that covered, already. As far as dates go. You could include "purchase anniversary" dates. I bought my 308 on January 5th.,2001. So,I am coming up on 3 whole years of Ferrari ownership. And,as far as the car show dates for next year. I don't know. But,there is probably some info in that Motorsports newspaper that I gave you. "Double K Productions" produces those Hooters shows, and probably some more, too. Also, maybe if you use some of the "retail purchase price" of the calender as a donation to a charity, after costs. Maybe that can save you, too. And,you can buy more,so that a larger quantity should make the price go down a little. Charge us guys who are in the calender,"cost". Then,if you sell anymore over and beyond that. Add an extra dollar or two,or...? and donate that extra $$ to Toys for Tots,or The Salvation Army,or something. For Christmas. Then, everyone would benefit! Just a thought!

Ok, found another publisher, no hassle approach. Actually found them via Rob Lay from FChat, they already did the 03 FChat calendar. So we're saved by the bell.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW ABOUT ALL DATES TO BE INCLUDED IN THE CALENDAR!

The whole thing is quite silly, but unfortunately true. I'm looking at other places now and if we do something over 50 pieces the price will stay at 15 bucks. And I'll definitely have 50 made (heck I'll get 10 just for myself, that's how I do X-mas shopping...).

In the end we might actually end up with even a better product as now I'll have a say on the text, which means we could add dates of FCA events etc. So if you guys already know some calendar dates, pls bring them forward now.

Frank, Bob, do we already know cruisin' nights dates, Hooters, Steak&Shake for 2004?

I'll throw in the F1 dates. Even at the risk that they might change.

I'll probably take 4 or so???? Trying to figure how many xmas presents i need and how many i want.... Put me in for 4 now, maybe 1 or 2 more later???

So, do we have to get permission also from the city of Chicago too??? For having Chicago in the background????? We better get permission from each building owner too in the pictures....

Had some more discussions with these guys and with Mike Epifanio and the bottom line is, that I'll have to find a different publisher.

That also means that I have to define a number of copies made. So if you guys could please give me an estimate of how many calendars you think you'd buy, that'd would help (and I won't hold those numbers against you, just trying to get a sense for the demand).

Problem is, that once I give out the URL for ordering the calendar, anybody can get one (which is basically a good thing). Including non owners. That's when Ferrari can step in. I know the legalities, just didn't expect the publisher to be so picky, especially since I'm not even making a profit on it.

It is basically the same as owning a Van Gogh: You can't just make postcards off it and sell those, even if you own the original Van Gogh. You need the written permission from Van Gogh's family/estate.

So the bottom line remains the same: We need a good customer of FNA who can get us their consent.

PM Fchat user Whart, he has a great deal of knowledge in the copyright field. I can't believe that the pub. would question the use of the pics for the owners use only.

I ordered the first batch of our 2004 calendar and now I got an email from the publisher's legal department challenging the copyright of the pictures.

They're right of course, despite the fact, that I (or we) took the pictures, Ferrari still owns the right to the looks of the car and I can't just sell these calendars without their consent.

So: Does anybody here have some good ties in with Ferrari/FNA to get us that approval?
