Bob & Chris,
Thanks for joining us on the drive. Hope it wasn't unbearably hot for either of you.

Philip,
Trip length is about 1.5 to 2 hours. All country roads, nice scenery and no traffic. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. I'd posted preliminary route instructions earlier in this thread.

What's your sense of the trip length? I also need to add a commute from the north shore 'burbs and want to see if my 6 yr old is going to enjoy it

First of all, all apologies to Bob for missing his party. I hope everyone had a good time. With my schedule, my next open weekend looks like some time in mid Spetember, by which time I'm sure something will be planned! I would love to go on this drive, but unfortunately won't be able to. Thank god the F1 races are on at 7AM--only time I have to watch them. Have fun...

Hello everyone. Could I please get a head count of those who plan to take the road trip on July 27 (or August 3 if rain)? The restaurant has asked about the size of this group. It looks like a 1:00 pm start is preferred, so this will be a mid-afternoon lunch.

Also, there's been some road "destruction" in one area, so the route may be slightly altered. Finally, I'll post some information later this week after we see what the weather looks like.

I think that you may be without my presence. ( that could be a good thing! ) However, if I can make it , I could meet at your place Bob and then we can head over to Bill's.

Should be a fun drive, looking forward to it. A start time after 1, would be good for me.

Just a reminder to Chicago area people that we're two weeks away from the July 27 Ferrari drive. The route begins in Shorewood, IL west of Joliet, and runs primarily southwest using nearly all back roads. Some twisty bits, and a lot of open straight runs. It would be about 100 miles and two hours drive time, and will end it at a casual restaurant with safe parking. Proposed date is Saturday, July 27 with rain date of August 3. Starting location is 21605 S. Mattox Court in Shorewood, IL 60431. I can post directions if necessary. I will post an update a couple days in advance regarding weather and the use of the August 3 rain date. Anyone have suggestions about a start time?

We'll leave from Shorewood, yes it's near Empress Casino, but I've had no luck there! Attached is the preliminary route.

Like always, I'll check the date and see how it looks. Does that run anywhere near a Casino boat?

I'm interested. And could you post some of the route? I was just out that way this weekend a couple of times and I would have really liked to know the best places to go. Thank you!

This thread ties in with previous dialog under a different thread. The subject is another Ferrari drive, and I have a route from Shorewood, IL west of Joliet, that runs primarily southwest using nearly all back roads. Some twisty bits, and a lot of open straight runs. It would be about 100 miles, and provide an opportunity to run "briskly" here and there. It will end it at a burger joint with safe parking. Proposed date is Saturday, July 27 with rain date of August 3. Anyone interested please let me know. I'll get some directions together shortly.
