Ken, thanks for posting those so soon. Jordan's pretty good with the camera. Mine will be ready today, but I'll probably start a new thread since this one is getting a little big. BTW, the picture of me going 70--I'll have you know I was responsibly driving the posted 55mph, it was Ken who had to go 70 to catch up and snap the shot! Sorry, just a little legal disclosure there. |

Same here, Ken. I'm getting a haircut at 8:30 downtown, but I'll be back in plenty of time. Think if there's any place specific you want to drive, since we have a lot of time to get out to Hinsdale. I always like tooling around in the city early weekends when nobody's out...Sounds like your car is ready to go! |

Just got an Email from Don Norton ( 308 ) he's going to try to join us. Chris are you still planning to meet at Continental? Norm at Foxvalley Motors or Continental? Looking forward to meeting all of you. The private parking for the pizza place is confirmed, when you guys see the signs on this lot you will understand. |

Ken, are you still going to meet me by my house? I'm going to be the only one leaving from here now, and I don't need to stop before hitting Continental. That leaves quite a bit of time in between, so let me know what your schedule will look like. We won't have a baseball game to worry about this weekend if you want to push it back a half hour or so. Let me know. |

One more time FERRARIS ON CHICAGO May 4th Schedule as of 4/29, leave Wrigleyville about 9:30/10 am. Next stop is Continental in Hinsdale around 11 am, from there to FoxValley Motors in West Chicago between 12/1 pm. Then off to the country drive Im going to check for construction areas this weekend, we dont need fresh tar on the paint. Hit the pizza place between 4/5 pm, we will need to narrow this down and give them a head count so we wont have to wait for seating. I have arranged with business next to Charlie Foxs for parking. Ours will be the only cars on that lot, also they will loan us at least one person to watch the cars and keep others from parking there. Any objections to us tipping the car watcher? Im going to try to have a trailer available if needed. Any changes or questions please Email me, [email protected] |

John, you're mobile, and still able to keep up on F-Chat. Good man. Drove my ass off today--it was great. I think we can put this collection of animals to bed seeing as how they haven't done us much good. I'm going to play it by ear, but if it's not raining crazy hard, I'll still head out to the 'burbs. Knowing Chicago, it'll probably turn to snow. |

Well, first the good news. My 328 FINALLY arrived, about 8:30 this morning. No surprise that I just now parked it! I could not be happier. This car is in such incredible shape, the dealer actually understated its condition. As for next week, I have to be in Wilmette at 7pm, which gives me some flexibility. I could probably drive around with you folks, but will have to skip the post-drive get-together. That's alright, though. We should probably just shoot for May 4th. I think the masses, monkeys, chicken and bulldog have spoken. |

I talked to the dealer on monday and told him these delays were driving me nuts. Anyway, they loaded it up on the truck about noon today. The driver was heading out in the evening and it will arrive early tomorrow morning. John, I hope you don't mind, but I used you as an excuse to blow off work tomorrow. Told them a friend was arriving in town early. Didn't think my partners would be quite so sympathetic if I said I wanted a 3-day weekend because my Ferrari is being dropped off. So, barring some freak road incident, tomorrow morning it is! I'll post some pics for documentation... |

Last ditch chance to push the rain back a day or so, it involves 3 monkeys a bulldog and a chicken, not for the faint of heart but worth a try. If this doesn't work there is always May 4th |

Better get some opinions: the forecast is cloudy with scattered rain and a chance of 'imbedded thunderstorms'. So it may not rain but probably will. At what point do we pull the plug? I don't want to get on the road, have rain hit and then decide if it's on or off. I'd prefer to postpone but we can wait until Fir to decide in case the forecast changes, which it very well could. Sun will be nice; can we do this Sunday? |

This guy is killing me. Delivery was originally set for today. He just called me and said that the truck is leaving thursday night, and will arrive in the AM on friday. "Just in time for your big drive on saturday." he said. That, and it screws up my work day on friday. Don't get me wrong, it's a good excuse to play hookey. But I'm going nuts. As a compromise he's sending me some more pictures. Waiting on those right now... |

FERRARIS ON CHICAGO April 27th, rain date May 4th Schedule as of 4/19, leave Wrigleyville about 9:30/10 am.

I'll need to leave Fox Valley for home no later than 12:30 :>( so I would like to hook up with someone at some point earlier in the day. I live NW suburbs but am willing to start in Wrigleyville, or anywhere else for that matter! Where and when is everyone starting from? |

Thanks Jack for all the work on getting me a garage! :0) I dont know if my baby will be making the trip or not yet as my mechanic has just decided for the past week not to do any thing with the car because he was working on a 275GTB instead (300K car vs 50K)...The target date for me getting my baby back now is next tuesday/wednesday which doesnt leave me time to get some of my interior parts redone but should still allow her to be ready for the trip. I am thinking of getting into town either around 7-8 thursday night or early Friday morning (11-12), does this work for you Jack? I figure I could meet you at your house take the car to some garage and then head down to the cubs game since you are being awesome and letting me buy your tickets for the day! Let me know if this works? Bob I will probably leave the car in your garage for the saturday/sunday night and then pick it up from you monday morning when I head back to minnesota. Dont worry I have been doing both the rain dance and the "get my car together" dance for the past week now with this nice weather we have been having! Look forward to seeing all you and your cars soon!!! |

Jack sure looking forward to seeing your 328 as I'm sure you are also. I'm planning to meet all of you at FoxValley between 12/12:30. It's not to early to start the no rain dance, at 9 pm every night we must be in our front yards swinging a rubber chicken over our heads for 2 min. |

Sure, I wanted to post something to get us back on top, but I also wanted to check in to make sure everyone is getting ready! My 328 is due this weekend, at latest. John, we'll have a couple of garage options for you, so don't worry about that. Cubs tix are no problem either. Bob, are you going to meet us at Fox Valley, or somewhere else. That isn't exactly my neck of the woods, so we'll have to make sure someone knows where we're going. |

Bill, from FoxValley we will be headed out to the country roads. You could meet us there or somewhere along the way as we head west. Being on the far west side of Aurora, I was thinking of some roads west of rt 47. Wouldn't be hard to figure a place to meet along the way. I'm with you on not liking city driving. |

I'm in Morrison IL, straight west of Chicago. I have many favorites in WI, but have to keep coming back to route 78 from where I live up to the WI Dells area. But now that I say that there are many others I couldn't leave out given the time. When I was younger (more careless) we used to have a no holds barred race to the dells with Porsches once a year. Now I'm content to tour with a little less intent and not scare my wife out of her gourd. But I still need a few less cops. John - you're always invited next time you head to Dubuque. Chow. Ernest. |

Ernest - Where at in IL are you? I am originally from Dubuque Iowa and have travel all the roads along the Mississippi in SW Wisconsin as well as Iowa. The Great River Road is just beautiful at fall time. Let me know where you are from and the next time I am in DBQ maybe we can get together. Daryl - We would love to have you join in....just read through all the below comments about the drive and when we are starting and everything. If it fits your schedule stay tuned to this thread for the final schedule. |

You guys have room for a Dino spider to tag along on the 27th? By the way Ernest, my first road trip with my Dino was along the roads you speak of in SW Wisconsin. Long, smooth curving sweepers along the river valley with spectacular views. And you're right, I don't remember ever seeing the Law! |

I'd rather start in Chicago early AM and work our way out. I have to be home by 1:30; a few hours in lite traffic would be more fun anyway. By 1 even out on 355 it can be pretty congested. |

John, you took the words right out of my mouth! It's 80 degrees, sunny, lots of golf, and I can't wait to get out of here! Rogers Park is a short ride to my house, and if you take the el train, there's a stop just a couple blocks away. Why don't we say we'll try to get going by 9-10 am then. I've always enjoyed the city more on early weekend mornings anyhow. |

Fox Valley works for me! They always have a lot to look at. We have so much planned an early start would be a good idea. Even 8-9 am to meet in Wrigleyville isn't too early for me. LSD is not crowded that early and neither is Michigan Ave, I88, etc. With the stops we have planned it would be good to allow time for late comers, etc. |

Hello Chicagoland Ferrarichat users! I am in Sales & Marketing at Foxvalley Motorcars in West Chicago. We are an authorized dealer for Lamborghini, Lotus, Panoz, and Qvale, and we always have a nice selection of Ferraris. Since it seems like some of the users are near our store, I wanted to extend an invitation to all of you to stop by on the 27th. We would love to meet you and have you take a look around. If any of you are interested, feel free to contact me at 630-231-3400 or [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you! Thanks and happy motoring!!! Michael |

It is Charlie Fox's Pizzaria in downtown Batavia, right next store to Dennis Hastert's office, for the starting time, that is Jack's call but I would figure early afternoon. Don't know yet if I will be able to meet at Continental yet, but worst case would see everybody in the Aurora area. |

I stopped by and talked with Keith Wermeyer at Continental in Hinsdale two days ago. (He sold me my 2001 360.) I told him that we were going to stop by with as many as eleven F cars on Saturday April 27th. He seemed excited. I don't think they have anything special planned. The Continental Open House is May 11th. That will be a zoo! If you want me to ask maybe they would move all their current used car inventory to the back so we can all park out front and party?? BTW, what is the name of the Pizza place and what is the location? Where do we start and what time??? looking forward to seeing you guys Tom Gripe |

I hope so! My son calls it 'an instant tourist attraction' whenever I park it so I feel like I have that in common with the Ferraris. Plus there's always something to tinker with although it's actually a very reliable car with all the restoration I've done. And it has a soul; not like a Ferrari but more like that goofy, excentric old uncle that everyone loves but can't quite explain. I hope people like it! |

It kind of depends on what you want to do....if you want to drive through the city with us you can meet us downtown or else we can hook up with you at Continential. Chris you always crack me up! Jack everything sounds great as far as I am concerned I will probably be arriving in town either thursday night or Friday morning depending on weather and work. Its a 6 hour drive down from Minnesota but man when I see all these beautiful cars together it will make it all worth while!! I was hoping we would get a chance to blast down Lake Shore, you can never go wrong with viewing the Chicago skyline in a Ferrari. I emailed you about the tickets and other issues. Bob The pizza place in Batavia will work for me I cant imagine any thing more fitting than pizza or pasta for a Italian get together like this! Everyone I sent out an email to everyone whos name and email address I know or have so that we can communicate things like phone numbers and stuff to stay in contact that day. I look forward to meeting you all and my 348 looks forward to spending some quality family time together with all its brothers and sisters! John |

I live about as far on the west side of Aurora as you can get, about 5 min. south of 88. From Hinsdale there really is no interesting way to go, 294 to 88 is the most direct but very boring. Jack if you want to arrange with your friends ( 550 & 2 Mondials and of course John ) I will Email the other parties and see where they would like to meet. We have Chris ( Blue 348 Spider ) in Schaumburg, Tom ( 360 ) coming from Indiana, Mike ( 348ts ) in The West Chicago area and Don ( 308 GTS ) in Darien. It really shouldn't be to bad to pick everyone up along the way. If all agree there is an excellant pizza place in Batavia, I can try to arrange for semi guarded parking on a private lot. |

So far, what I have in mind will be a starting point near Wrigley Field, since that is close to home. This is assuming John won't be too hungover from Friday! Anyway, south on Lake Shore Drive (nice and scenic), quick shot down Michigan Avenue (something for the shoppers), past Soldier Field to see the personal seat licenses at work, onto I-55 to Western Springs (gotta pick up my nephew) and Hinsdale (our 550 guy). If for any reason anyone needs a trip to Continental Motors, this is a good opportunity. From there, we will need some directions from Bob to find our way towards him. This way, you guys can either start downtown, meet in Hinsdale (Continental?) or go straight to Aurora. The drive from the start to Hinsdale is only 20-30 minutes, it only reads longer. Good? Bad? Any ideas? |

Here's a question for all of you. Are you bringing anyone with? I want to swing by and pick up my 12 year-old nephew who, God love him, has the car gene. It seems to find somebody in every generation of our family. Anyway, he doesn't know yet about my 328. I'm hoping to have a couple others with me so when we pull up, he'll come out and see these Ferraris outside his house and freak! His mom can't wait. |

I don't think so Mike - I don't have AOL. One of my fave roads is out by you. I like to take 55 S to 121 is it? The road that goes to Plainfield. I take that through Plainfield and continue on towards Yorkville and when I get to 34 I take that back to my neighborhood. Nice little cruise out in the farm country. Last time there I stopped at the Ace Hardware store to get a wingnut for the top of my air cleaner box and the whole store emptied out to look at the car! :0 -DN |

Basic plan as it stands, Sat the 27th with the 4th as a rain/snow backup date. Starting in Chicago and picking up more Fcars along the way ending up in the Aurora area for some backroad driving. Jack will most likely be setting the route out of the city and I'll pick some rural roads out west. This should be great, really looking foward to meeting all of you. |

This get together just keeps looking better and better all the time...what cars do we all have coming? From my estimates we have a 308, 328, Mondial, 2-348's, 512TR, and possibly a 550!! Ok now who on this board in Chicago owns an 355, 360, F40 or F50 and wants to be part of the fun? Oh and lets not forget all the older cars as well....any Daytonas or Dinos out there? Anyway I look forward to meeting all you very soon...I will set up a mailing list tomorrow night an fire it off to all of you. Now hopefuly mother nature decides to cooperate! |

John, Let me know if you need to change your tickets. I have 5 pretty good season seats. I'll probably skip the game if saturday is our day, and thus avoid temptation at the ballpark. You might not want to double up anyway, since realistically we wouldn't be getting out of the area until 5-ish (3 hour game plus traffic). I'm assuming the other folks would like to get a little earlier start than that. |

Jack and Bob, Everything sounds awesome so far!! I really like the idea of a tour of the city out to Bob, who is farthest west, then blasting through the country side. Saturday and Sunday 27-28th would work for me, I would like to see saturday as I am going to the Cubs-LA games both days and on saturday the game is at 1:20 so it'll probably be over by 3:30-4:00 at which time I could meet you jack (since if I remember right you live close to Wrigley) then we could start picking people up on our way out towards Bobs house. If that is to late for everyone I am sure that I might be able to some how trade my tickets for the saturday game and get them for Friday or something....bottom line is I am sure I can be flexable, hell if everyone wants I will come down the first weekend in May (4th-5th) to get together if that works out better for everyone, I have no problem with a nice road trip in the Ferrari. Man we are starting to get quite the tour group going here if the Mondials and 550 join us, I think that everyone is red except for Chris on here who has a, if I remember right, blue 348 spyder. This is getting really exciting!! I cant wait for the end of the month already! I think we should also plan a bad weather weekend incase we get some crappy weather the weekend of April 27th....like I said above I am also open the next weekend to coming down and driving with you guys if for some reason this weekend doesnt work out! |

That will definitely work. Anyone who plans on joining in, let us know where you'll be or where you'd like to join in so we can set up a route. I'll talk to my boys at work and see if they're interested, too. That would add 2 Mondials and a 550. By the way, are we all red so far? Oh, while we're at it, let's narrow dates. Sounds like we're talking about either Saturday, April 27th or Sunday the 28th. Sound right? |

So far we have 1 308, 1 328, 2 348's and 1 512TR, is anyone further west than Aurora, were I live? We have 4 weeks to put this together and it should be a lot of fun. Jacks idea of a tour from the city picking up F-cars along the way works for me. Once out west near me I know some good back roads in the country. |

It seems like we're all a little spread out, we'll have to do some specific planning. Perhaps we could put together a little "tour" to kick things off. We can either start and stop together, or go point to point and pick people up as we go along. Yes, I'm purposely avoiding the word "rally". That takes too much planning. If that sounds like an idea to you guys, let me know. I'll be happy to throw together a route, maybe starting downtown and working west. |

Jack I am glad the 328 is going to make you feel better after the IRS takes you to the cleaners! I know mine is I should be getting it back from its 30K right around then too! Cant wait to get her warmed up and then take it up to redline in the first 3 gears (ahhh the peace of mind that comes with having new timing belts!) I have emailed both Chris and Bob about getting together on that last weekend in April...probably either Friday or Saturday night would be best. I was thinking like I said before either going and getting something to eat some where (Suggestions??) or else just meeting at someones house and talking cars and letting the ladies hangout in the driveway together...kinda like a Italian family reunion! Let me know what you think....if anyone else has thoughts post 'em and well work out a plan |

Funny enough, the 328 will be coming the week of April 15th. Talk about a great way to shake off the taxman blues!! Just let me know as the time approaches the specifics so I can make sure I don't double book anything. I'm usually pretty flexible, though. Love to get together with everyone. Tom-I have absolutely NOTHING against Mondials, and I hope I didn't come off that way. I remember when I was younger and my neighbor bought one, and he would drive his kids around, top down. I would think how lucky those kids were, and how beautiful the engine sounded. But the styling of the 308/328 has always pulled at my heart. |

Mike, between you and I, the Mondials don't really do it for me either. I don't know all the specifics on their cars, other than at least they got the cabriolets. Kind of a funny story: One of them--we'll call him Ed, since that's his name and he probably won't ever see this--was driving his car only a month or so after he bought it. He was rear-ended, causing quite a bit of damage. While parked on the side of the road exchanging insurance info, a tour trolley (these things we have in Chicago!) went by. Without missing a beat, the trolley driver alerted the passengers that, if they looked out to their right, they would see a wrecked Ferrari! Ed JUST got his car back from repair. |

Bob and Mike Hello! I live in Wrigleyville, and very soon my 328 will, also. I have 3 friends at work with Ferraris, two of whom live in the city, the other in Hinsdale. The first two own Mondials, the other a 550. Anyway, I would always be interested in some sort of get-together. Don't know if you checked it out yet, but the site fcacentralstates.org has some good info, like shows and track dates. Check it out, and I'll look for you at the open house. Jack Stanley |

Let's try to have an informal meeting once the weather starts getting normal, sometimes I think I'm the only Ferrari owner in the area. At the least everybody make it to Continental open house May 11th |
