Faisal ~ awesome photos of two women. Oh those
two girls look so exotic and HOT. It is easy to figure out which
ones that "I" am talking about. You need to hang around
Milan for a few days. Time to pack.

There - We agree on something. LOL

James: Good to finally meet you, and I was on pins and needles as you drove into the staging area at Pebble. 5 GT40s in staging, and I had my fingers crossed the whole time.

Congratulations!

130 of the cars entered in Pebble set off on the Pebble Tour. 47 came back on flatbeds. J6 as it did 36 years ago at LeMans finished. On sat I drove it along with it's brothers that still run at the Historic Ford Parade at the Historics.
On sunday it took 3 place. I'm glad they didn't try to drive the cars that beat it at speed. :-)
Look for her (and me) on the next cover of autoweek. I'll post pics soon. It was GREAT meeting you. It really was and I did hear your cheers. Thanks.

DES make plans now to come out next year, Pebble will feature Ferrari AND the FCA annual meet will be there, following the all car weekend. They anticipate the largest gathering of Ferraris ever on the planet.

DES, Pebble Beach is up by Carmel CA. If your goal is to see some of the nicest, uniquest cars in the world you HAVE to go to Pebble. The whole Pebble Beach area is FULL of auto events that weekend! I dont think that there is a larger show in the world. Anyone?? A few of the things to see, The Concours (PB), Italian Concours (I think 600+ Ferrari last year) Montery Historic races (MANY million dollar cars RACING against each other!) LOTS of stuff to do, and much money you can spend to get into all these events. Ya gotta go one year!! Nothing is like it.

You mean the F1 car? The one that was driven by Gilles Villeneuve at some point (name's on the side)? I don't know much about it...pit crew was not around.

The EB110, the Mosler, the Audi - they looked sick... Awesome photos, Faisal, it must've been really cool to be there... The GT40 looks great as ever, the prototype 'Vette even had some nice style to it... Very cool stuff... On the second page, there's a Ferrari; red - i have no idea what it is... Do you know...? Also, second page, there's a white car driving on the road - is that an old Lotus or something...? Looks sweet... Thanks for sharing...

Faisal, no the new Bugatti was not present on any Concours over Europe. You was allowed to start the monster 1001PS engine????? Ooooh my god, you are THE MAN! You makes me more and more envious. How does it sounds & feel to be the master of 16 cylinder and over 1000PS? Amazing!

About the Alfa Romeo Brera: There was just an article in a German Auto magazine. 450 PS and something around US$ 150.000,-. right now its just a concept car, but Alfa is on the way to produce it in a limited edition within the next few years....we will see.

Hope the see the new GT 40 in Frankfurt, but as usual, we will just see pics and a press map on display;-(

Wolfgang, the Bugatti has been making the show rounds for a while. At last year's Concorso, I was allowed to even start it up. This year, it was on the track at Laguna Seca (spun out three times!) but I wasn't able to get any pictures. No doubt someone will be putting some up on the web soon. I am surprised it hasn't been at any of the German shows. I am sure it will be at Frankfurt this year.

The Alfa was our favourite car too. It's called the Brera, and I believe it's only a design study. If it was on the market at a remotely sensible price, either here or in Europe, I would buy one immediately. 400hp in a hot hatch that looks far better than the BMW M Coupe. Yum!

I liked the Lexus HPX too.

Othere notable cars there...the Maybach was nice enough, but the pretentious people selling it were a huge turnoff. The Bentely GT was just ok, but I know it's a good car. No sunroof or glass roof is available, though...wtf?! The RR Phantom looks worse every time I see it.

And best of all, we saw the new Ford GT driving on the road as we were arriving. It was low and wide and dark and hulking and simply gorgeous. It really got my heart pounding. The car is simply amazing. I read the discussion here a while back where it wasn't commented on too favourably. All I can say is, it would definitely be in my dream garage. I love it--every angle and detail.

Thanks Faisal, great pics from an awesome event!
I love the Alfa Romeo Concept car and hope to see it at the German IAA (Internationale Automobile Show) soon.
Oh, I`m envious here over in Germany. Such great & rare cars like the brand new Bugatti are from Europe / Italy but we have never seen it here B4.
Congratulation, brillant pics!

Faisal, there was a big article on the caddy in the daily telegraph on saturday, Bob Lutz said that they expected to start production on 05 but will only make 1000, not sure if you have to register but here's the link

Tyler, thanks. I read a while ago that the plans for the Cadillac Sixteen had been nixed. Don't know why they keep showing the car. I do like it, but I wish they would show concept cars only if production versions are in the pipeline.

Incidentally, if anyone manages to acquire that Caddy, it would be one hell of a collector's item.

I remember now, the Lexus concept vehicle is called the HPX, for High Performance Crossover. Amazing what a full night's rest can do to jog your memory.

You do get more for your additional purchase price, though...don't you? The Camry looks like a cheap Japmobile compared to the ES300. And I don't know what Toyota would compare to my wife's much-loved GS300. My buddy has the monster SUV, and I thought that was a far better buy than the Lexus version. However, Dan owns the Lexus version and told me that, besides the walnut trim, there's significant differences, ie. the suspension is completely different, etc.

Judge4re,
I just remembered something...reason I left before the results of the judging were announced is because I was disgusted to read that one of the judges was none other than a Chris Bangle, of BMW infamy. I can't believe they would allow him of all people to judge cars. As I was walking out, they were announcing who each of the judges were. Had Bangle's name come up, I would have booed at the top of my voice...propriety be damned.

That 250SWB is a real looker. In the Monterey Historics pics, there is a pic of a 250 LWB (blue) and in yesterday's pics, there's a 250 TDF as well. Strange looking backend, but pretty nonetheless.

Yes, they were all powered by Dino engines, or some by turbocharged versions of the Dino engine. But none of them had Ferrari badging like that, it just looks stupid. It MUST be one of the Stratos kit cars, I can't believe someone would do that to a real Stratos!

Jeff, I think the race versions (possibly all versions) were powered by Ferrari for a while. There's a racing Stratos in Alitalia livery in the Ferrari Heritage museum in Italy.

Hey, you know him? If we are talking about the same person, he's a retired pilot living in Hawaii. I don't know how he did in the competition--I left before anything was announced.

I was driving around in San Mateo and I saw a glimpse of it going through an intersection on a parallel block. I followed, and it was just a block from his in-laws' house, where he was parking it before going to Concorso/Pebble Beach. He was nice enough to talk to me about it and show it to me in great detail--engine, boot, interior, problematic generator, new battery, I mean everything! I saw him again and again this weekend--nice guy.

Ernesto, both my friend Vasili and I got to sit in the Bugatti and fiddle with the controls. We talked to the guy for a long time--yes, Vasili is seriously considering getting one. I was promised a test drive if I visit the factory in a couple of months. Time for another factory tour!
