Paul, the drain holes need to be enlarged. The holes are not at the edge of the panel and ponds water inside the door. I wash my car as little as possible. I wipe it down after every drive and I use spray wax by P&S to keep it shiny. The only way to completely get rid of the rust is to cut it out. |

Just moved to NY city suburbs..finally don't have to pay for a garage...that last inch of door has no drainage at all and traps moisture...not much that can be done other than cut out and replace with new metal...had it ground and patched..just won't last. |

Paul, that looks great... what part of the country are you in? Why do have rust bubbles? |

the wife bought me a digital camera...so I had an opportunity to play around...here's the old '78 308 73k miles....had this side painted about 9 years ago with glasurite after a flat chewed up the paint on the rear quarter...not seen in photo...those damn rust bubbles on the passenger side door...been repaired 2 times now, once when the car was about 3 years old and then 9 years ago when paint was repaired just shows how crappy 70's Italian metal is...next step...a new lower skin..Next project! |
