Mark: "Lotus, I know they have the Jr track car. But are they still an exotic? Esprit was alway a Ferrari equal, but Elise seems more like a vette, very fast but not exactly exotic car class?" Dude, Vette = bland, mass-produced, over-weight dinosaur. Lotus Elise = rare, light-weight, foreign, breath-of-fresh-air... Definitely exotic! uh oh, I sense a flame thread with those comments... |

Ryan, From your perspective (and I hate to say this ), I would get the 355. The Countach is too much of a long term car. Getting a properly sorted one might be a crapshoot. Same with the 355 but not nearly to the extent on the Countach. The Countach will be a car that will most likely need fettling as you drive it. Unless of course you find one that has already been properly sorted. Get the Countach if you can have two cars. Not just because its a Lamborghini but because there really isn't anything quite like realizing a childhood dream! What I would personally do in your situation is get the Gallardo at it's inception. The way that I see it, in the unlikely event you don't like it you will probably be able to make your money back by selling it right away. That is, of course, considering the other cars in the market in that price range and my personal preference. I hear there might be two Gallardos along with some Murcielagos at the Texas Running of the Bulls event in October. I'm hoping this is the chance in which I'll get an up close and personal look at the car. Cheers |

Lotus will be introducing the Elise here in the states in the spring of next year. I believe 1500 is the sales goal. Price is $38,500. Mark Nyman on this board just opened up a dealership here in Greenwich, Ct. |

It is interesting. I know that the only new car that I would put my money down for is the Gallardo and at some point I would like to order one. Here's the relevant dilemma. If I wait to order the Gallardo until after I test drive one, I won't have one until late 03 and I would like something else in the mean time. So should I go with my favourite production Ferrari the F355B or a Countach, my childhood dream. It makes a difference because my wife would divorce me before she lets me keep two exotics (and it's hard to drive each enough anyway) so I will have to sell one in a year's time. The Countach would be a better bet from a depreciation perspective but it will be harder to sell. The 355 would be sold pretty easily but I think that values are on the the way down. And I am worried about getting a bad Countach. And maybe the solution is that I wait. As I said, it's a bit of a dilemma. |

Hey at least this time they timed it right & will present the cars at the begining of a new Bull market instead of just before the Bear comes to dinner LOL |

Add Bugatti,Bentley (competes with 465/Maser),Ford 1500 per year, Saleen, Panoz, Pagoni, Spyker, Konninsberg. Gonna get crowded. If you read todays NY Times you'll find an article about discounting in Top of the line luxury cars. |

What Do you think the flood of new exotics (New 360 and 456, Gallardo, Aston Martins V8, GT40, etc.) is going to do to the used ferrari market? Do you think the used 360, 550, and 456 is going to lose there value? |
