Peter, the ignition systems is the Millermon conversion with MSD. It provides a more adjustable and simple solution along with cheaper and easier to find replacement parts.

The ceramic coating on the exhaust headers does a far better job insulating heat than the factory aluminum heat shields ever did. With the original shields, when I would lean into the engine bay you could really feel waves of heat radiating off the headers. Now, you feel pretty much nothing. You can put your hand 2 inches from the headers with the car hot and running, and it radiates barely more heat than the cam covers. The entire engine bay seem much cooler. Not to mention the headers look really great now. I had Airborne Coatings in Charlotte do them and all the powder coating.

Looks great!

What ignition system did you use?

And are there any potential problems from removing the heat shields? - Anybody have thoughts on this?

Terry -
Gorgeous car. Its the color I spent a year and a half looking for on a 328. Every time I see that color a part of me wishes I had waited for one...

Presuming this is the car you're bringing to the Talladega Track event Nov 15, I'm looking forward to seeing your car in person! I'm sure you'll love driving it on that roadcourse with the new wheels, etc.

Norman, Its Dino blue metallic.

Stephen, I may change my mind later, but for now its not for sale. Im enjoying driving it. Before my complaint was that it really handled like a pig on the 14" wheels and ancient tires. The new wheels and tires plus all the suspension upgrades have transformed it. Its really fun to drive quickly now.

Sam, the Sanden compressor was $325 or so. The universal adaptor plate kit was $70. The new AC main lines were $300 custom made. All of the front compartment lines were also made for me by a local AC specialist including new service ports. They also did a new dryer and expansion valve, did a weekend leakdown test and charged teh system with R12. That was all $560. So the total conversion cost about $1,250 and took me about 25 hours to install. Getting the old AC lines out requires removing the fuel tank. Getting the compressor to mount up properly took lots of trial and error. Its an extremely tight fit and getting it all shimmed correctly so the belt is straight was a real pain.

My 308 was off the road getting TONS of stuff done since January, and yesterday I took it to a local car show. We got it back together and had time just for a real quick wash job... no wax yet (today) but she really is looking and running FANTASTIC! I finally have it the way I want it.

Just finished: cam belts, cam seals, cam covers and belt covers powder coated, exhaust headers heat shields cut away and the headers ceramic coated silver, all emissions equipment removed, air injection manifold plugs installed, accessory belts all replaced, all fuel lines replaced, all exhaust manifold gaskets and donuts replaced, A/C system totally redone with Sanden rotary compressor (it blows hard and cold!), Italian design racing threaded body shocks/springs with 12 way adjustable bump/rebound, replica QV 16" wheels with new Kumho tires, polished the tubi and really went to town detailing the engine bay, seats and door panels re-dyed and interior really detailed, 18mm GTS rear anti-roll bar installed, timing and carbs all tuned.... and lots of other little nick-nack stuff. Here are a few pics:
