Scott, you are referring to the Powertrain Warranty for $1,500, while Tino is referring to a Bumper to Bumper all inclusive for 5K (I have not seen that one yet).

I just purchased one year of coverage when I purchased my 1995 355 a month ago. The coverage was $1500. A check for $1000 goes from the dealer to FNA and the other $500 covers about 5 hours worth of labor to certify that the car can be covered (compression test, emissions test, no fluid leaks, etc.) If your dealer is charging more than what is needed to cover the costs, you are getting ripped off!!

My dealer told me verbally that the coverage for my 550 would be about $1,400 a year. I've not seen the paperwork yet...bvut that's a far cry from $5,000. WTF???

Hmm don't know if the cover is the same but Powertrain in the UK for a 355 is around 800 UKP ($1200ish)

This FNA $5,000 a year warranty protection, over a ten year period would cover a $50,000 engine repair and FNA wouldn't be out-of-pocket at all. Of course you don't do so well...hummm get the warranty or buy a Corvette Z06? LOL just trying to wrap my mind around that kind of money for a warranty.

I guess Ferrari figures that people only keep their cars for a year, and then sell. So then the $5k might make sence for one worry-free year after the factory warrenty runs out?

It is things like this that make me mad. The bastards are about as greed as appliance repair men. They will charge you for crap that should be free. What is funny is, if you are dumb enough to fall for their little scam and buy the "extended warranty" try getting them to own up to it. That is the real trick. $5000.00 a year, HA! what a freeking joke. And then people wonder why Ferrari is made fun of.

>> (I think the bumper-to-bumper plus powertrain warranty on a 360 for ex, cost $5K/year). <<

well that should give an idea of how expensive Ferrari calculates the potential breakage per car per year ...Ka Ching...likely factoring about 2500 miles per year per car = $2.00 per mile (not including gas & insurance of course).

Ahhhh, isn't modern technology sweeeeeettt!!

I was surprised no one posted a follow-up with their dealers on this subject (old thread I can't find) but I did. Dealers now have a glossy FNA folder explaining the different plans available to original owners and subsequent owners. It may be available now as we speak. I glanced thru it and found many options available, all very expensive!! (I think the bumper-to-bumper plus powertrain warranty on a 360 for ex, cost $5K/year). Ask your dealers for details and post your findings and comments !
