Right, my titanium G4 is scratched to death and looks awful. The reason they paint it is because the titanium under the paint is a charcoal black and probalby not the color Apple wanted. | ||

The titanium in my powerbook G4 is still titanium, but it is painted. (not really sure why, honestly. Electrical insulation?) If abused, it will scratch, etc. Still looks like a million bucks from 5 feet though! Best! Ben. | ||

The way I checked to see if my Range rover's metal was plastic was to simply touch it after the AC had been blasting for a while.... ...the aluminum trim would all be very cold to the touch. | ||

I thought all the silver stuff (apart from the shifter) was plastic. I'm going to go and tap mine again. The area of the drivers door in front of the speaker scuffs easily and this stuff doesn't heat up on a hot day like the metal shifter does. I think it looks great mind you, but I'm looking forward to the Carbon-Fibre on the 360CS. | ||

Michael, To my eyes, Porsche interiors look best in black. Most of the other interior colors draw attention to the plastic bits, and they end up looking cheap and sometimes even hideous (light blue, for example). My 996 has the full leather option (black, of course!) so, as you pointed out, there are very few plastic pieces in view. A very handsome interior, IMHO. | ||

I found the interior of the 360 to be very comfortable, roomy, and have no visible quality issues. The interior seemed to be aluminium and leather wrapped. To me, at least, the interior seemed downright luxurious. | ||

Bizarre, to say the least. When the 360 first came out I was very surprised by how "modern" the 360 interior was compared to all past models. Very ergonomic, simple and clean with curvy lines, to me it made all past models look vintage, busy, and complex. My 360 has very little plastic, anywhere. I also have a 996TT and that also has reasonably little plastic, assuming you get the options that cover most items in leather. Most 996TT owners that bought them when they were going well over retail bought bare-bones stripped models to maximize immediate resale profit, so many came without options and thus many parts were plastic. | ||

John, Yes, I'm sure. I discovered a factory paint flaw on one trim piece which the dealer then resprayed under warranty. Also, during an impressively thorough delivery "briefing", the salesman cautioned me that all 360 center consoles are painted so I needed to be careful not to scratch mine. So far so good... | ||

I can only find the radio fascia, the air vents, the ventilation controls and steering column. Every other inch of space is covered either in leather or aluminum. Are you mistaking the aluminum for plastic? | ||

Many of the trim pieces are not "polished aluminum" - they may be aluminum but they're painted. You need to be careful with metal objects and passengers who fling open their seat belts! | ||

enh? While I like the 355's interior a little better than the 360 asthetically (but this is like asking "which of these georgeous intelligent whitty supermodels would you like to sleep with?") there is no denying that the 360's interior is a step up in quality and fit of materials. Very little plastic in either car. Maybe in the buttons. And those work very well to boot. I mean, sure, it's not quite in Koenigsegg or Zonda or TVR territory, but those interiors belong in modern art museums, not mere automobiles. I love how Ferrari finally went to completely metal shifter balls and pedals, (and I love how those touches look in a 308 let's say) both are just pure SEX! Best! Ben. | ||

The leather, which covers everything, is top notch. The console, door panels and dash are polished aluminum. And the plastics used for the switches and air conditioning vents are heavy to the touch. Even the toggle switches that control things like the trunk latch and the defogger require a heavy hand to operate. Everything about this car says quality, nothing feels loose or flimsy. What, pray tell, should it look like, Mr. Green? | ||

i can't really get all that worked up about the interior of a sports car. i adore the interior of my 550, but if it had "more plastic" i wouldn't really think less of it. my 996TT had a TON of plastic. it was a patently chintzy interior, but that never really bothered me about it. i want my luxobarge sedans to have superb interiors, but when i'm in the f-cars it's all about acceleration, braking, and cornering! but to each their own, for sure! doody. | ||
