I have to agree with standing out. I do love red, but in a sea of Ferrari red, blue gets noticed. |

it is medium metallic blue, it does look gray sometimes - a lot of people think it is gray. If I park next to a bright blue car, it looks nothing close to blue. Cool color to stand out in a crowd of red. |

Tim, Mine seems to have the same issue, but it is only beginning to occur. Mine seems to be lifting at the back of the passenger door slightly. I only seem to have the top on when it rains, so if its due to sun warping it should be minimal in my case. Which blue is your car? Not sure I've ever seen it before. Seems to be a dark slate grey (or is that just the way it appears in the photos?). TWS |

Availability and money being no object, I would buy a Saratoga top, a carbon fiber one off Ebay, and have the stock one. I think all three would look good on almost any color car. (I really like the carbon fiber wing on Ebay from the same guy for my black car, but too pricey.) I also like the GTS guys who have matched their paint to look like GTB's. This seems like an untapped market for a custom non-permanent piece. Can you imagine having four tops in your garage and having a different look each time you went out with no permanent change to the stock car? |

If this top goes for $2,000. used, why would they stop making it, I bet you could sell these all day long for 500. to 600. a copy. How many 3X8 are out there, a lot. John |

man, I thought I was the only one w/a blue 328 and a saratoga top. I love my top, only problem is that it is not flush on the back edges - I drive my car nearly every day, so it sits out in the sun a lot - I think it is warping slightly - I do not remember it being that bad when I bought it a few years ago.

Mule, I typically only have the top on when the sun isn't out, so I have yet to experience the too much sun problem. I can understand how that might become a problem though (especially with a dark interior). The last one that I saw on eBay went for just less than $2000. I have a feeling that if people knew how rare they actually were, they would actually go for the $3000-4000 you mentioned. Funny you should mention not dropping it. The one bad thing about the top is that getting it in and out of the vinyl bag can be difficult. For the longest time I was afraid of dropping it while trying to get it into the bag. Now I generally leave it out of the bag. TWS |

Last spring, I saw a 328 in FoNE, asked the owner about it and he said it was also a Saratoga Top. Bad news: After calling Saratoga Tops, they said they no longer made it for the 308/328, nor had any leftover, unassembled, spare parts, etc. He recommended Ebay, but i have never seen one there. He also said if he saw one for sale, he would estimate $3000 - $4000. I would love to have one. The only negative I have heard (other than cost) is that it can let too much sun in on very hot days. (My interior is black). TWS, you have a rare item, dont drop it.

Several people have expressed an interest in seeing photos of the Saratoga Top that I got with my 328. The top is designed similar to the factory top, except it has thick black foam extendings along the doors. The actual 'roof' is ~ 3/16" thick and is transluscent smoked brown. The pins and latching mechanisms are essentially the same as the factory top. Two major benefits to the top. First and foremost, MORE headroom. Seems like about an inch to a inch and a half. Second, it lets the sun in. Gives you a more open feel, even with the roof on. Here's the top on the car:
