Wow,thats too bad,to lose someone who's really enthusiastic and plans events. Because, these cars are made to be DRIVEN! And,I agree with you on the heat in summer. I visit Phoenix/Scottsdale several times a year, and always in July (a brothers B-day) so,I know all about the 115 degree days! One July,I rented a convertible for the 2 weeks that I was out there. Barely ever put the top down because it was TOO HOT! Ended up blasting the air conditioner all the time. EXCEPT for in the morning and at night. You can drive a convertible (or Ferrari) all you want in the mornings or the evenings (sunset cruises). Also, the F.O.C.(Ferrari Owners Club) Has some VERY active regional clubs in So.Cal.-especially-SanDiego. I was a member of the National FOC,but there wasn't a regional branch in the Midwest,so,I ended up paying $105.00 for a monthly news letter, that was ALWAYS a month LATE!!! So,I joined a very active local branch of the FCA,here.Lots and LOTS of fun things always going on! But...I always was jealous of all of the cool drives ,cruises, events that were going on in those branches. So.Cal. is a nice weekend from Phoenix-leave Friday afternoon, you get there in 6 hours or so ,got all weekend, then,a nice drive home on Sunday.Or,organize events with your own local FOC,and FCA regional clubs. But,check out their websites, join the clubs, and enjoy your Ferrari with your fellow Ferrari enthusiasts! Even If you can just hook up with a few other Ferrari owners for a drive, lunch in Sedona, drive to Vegas for the weekend, whatever. In my local (Chicago area) sites, there are alot of posts about "hey, how come I'm the only guy out there at cruise nites in my Ferrari?" Except that theres 5 or 6 other guys saying the same thing...we just must be missing each other,or going to different places. So,we're trying to organize so that we can meet up somehere and cruise together. To dazzle the muscle car and hot rod weary masses with a bevy of Bella Italian automotive Art. (make 'em all go "GA-GA",and drool all over themselves)There I go...gettin all emotional about Ferraris!!!!

We do not have weekly drives, we do have regular monthly drives during the cooler months. We used to have a very active member that planned early morning drives all year long, but he no longer has a Ferrari. August in central Arizona is really not a good month to plan an event, it is either 115 degrees or heavily raining.

We have some great events planned for the next couple months, everything from socials to drives to our largest event, Concorso Arizona. Our website is incorrect in the newsbulletin and so is the calendar, but if you go to www.ferrariaz.com you should find all the up to date information regarding our events.

Bill if you want to choose a route and date that does not conflict with our current schedule I would be more than happy to help get the word out. Unfortunately our Concorso is very time consuming and the small team of organizers will not have time to plan additional events, any help in that respect would be greatly appreciated.

I saw that in an FCA monthly that I get. Give them a call. I was last out there in July, and they moved a little bit east of where they were located before.(with the Jaguar & other High end cars) And,now its just Ferrari & Maserati. Theres a post on here, somewhere, that showed an "unveiling" of a couple of Enzos there,I think it was just a week or two ago.(unless it was an older post, and I didnt notice the date) but,I do think that it was only a week or two ago. But, give them a call, regarding the Sunday morning drives.( i do know that they USED to do it. Not sure if they still do,though) You can also check out the FCA-Arizona Region website at:www.fca-az.org Right now,in my FCA monthly, they show an "Italian Car show" at the McDonalds at the Pavillions in Scottsdale on October 4th. call:602-717-0802- Terry Daniel, for more info. And,a "Concorso Arizona",Scottsdale,on October 26th. Call:same phone #. Lastly,a "Drive to Payson" on November 25th and lunch at Cacina Paradiso. Call same ph.# for that one, too. And,if you do go on that drive, think of us poor guys up here in the Windy City, who've probably already had to put OUR Ferraris into winter storage for the season! (WAH!!!!WAH!!!!)

Frank,
I still like Chicago, but you can't beat the climate and roads we have here in AZ. When most other places have blizzard conditions that is when we have some of the best driving weather.

I live in Chicago, but, have alot of family That live in Phoenix and Scottsdale. So,I visit alot. Dont they meet up at Scottsdale Ferrari on McDowell, every Sunday morning, for a drive? Man,you guys got it made out there-able to drive your Ferrari every day,all year long. We get that dastardly snow, salt, rain. As soon as my little ones get big,I am gettin my self, and my Ferrari out there. you can drive to Vegas-I was just out there in July- and made it from Phoenix to Vegas in 4 & 1/2 hours. (had to get a Nissan Maxima as a rental,so,I got "optimum use" out of it)L.A.,SanDiego,New mexico,Colorado,-Geez! all sorts of cool spots. We can drive to Indiana.Wisconsin,Michigan-not quite as exciting.
