Ford would need every bit of glory revived to gain some status while Ferrari does not need anything to boost its image. I think Ferrari these days is all about technology, innovation and design. The only thing they will "revive" are names and numbers of previous models. People at the factory think of nostalgia as an acceptable price of fame but will always look to bring out modern and advanced products. Of course my 2c.

Please...don't anyone get their grundies in a bunch about my vcomment on re-issuing the 308. I REALLY doubt that its ever gonna happen. But,theoretically speaking... How many people (myself included) always thought,"hey, woulnt it be cool if the brought back a new version of the GT40...." and, look, here it is! (apparently, the people at Ford were thimking the same thing!) And,the next generation Mustang-shades of the late '60's,for sure. Read that Chevy is thinking about doing something similar with the Camaro-a 1960's style throwback. Look at the Viper... Thats got Carroll Shelby and Shelby Cobra written all over it! So,why not a Ferrari? I'm sure that there are guys out there saying:"too bad Chevy cant make a re-issue of the '57 Chevy, except with all the creature comforts and techno;ogy of a new car...." Who knows, maybe someday....

Level the playing field. Put a supercharger in the 360. :-)

Definitely agree about "re-issues" of P4,Daytona,275GTB/4s. But,thats because WE are Ferrari lovers. Of ALL Ferraris. But,looking at a "broader appeal" standpoint. I dont think that Ferrari would make a re-isue of a rare, seldom seen car. Albeit,I guess that you could say that about the GT(GT40) Really, only car enthusiasts know what that is,too. And to the general public,or younger guys, looks like a new car. Also, the rarity and current value of the aforementioned cars... If they made re-issues of,say,275GTB/4's,wouldn't that bring their values down, because so few and rare. Yet,on the otherhand, possibly either make original 308's a little more valuable,or,totally worthless.(doubt it)

The Modena should be a little morsel for the GT. On the + side maybe Ferrari will do a retro on the P4, now THAT would be friggin awesome :-)

Ford taking another crack at the Pantera theme.

I think its great, this one may work for them, it will be the premier US Sports Car, bruising a lot of Viper owners egos.

"Could Ferrari ever consider making a "Re-issue" of the 308,like Ford is doing with the GT(GT40)"

Probably not. If Ferrari were to re-do a 308 class/sized machine its targets would be 330 HP, 2500 pounds, greater than 175 MPH. They could EASILY achieve such a design, and even make it look like a 308/328. It would, however, cost more like 85-90% of a 360. How many people would want a modern 308 for $150K when a 360 is available for $165K?

If Ferrari do a "re-issue", I'd rather have them pick from the following inspirations: P4, 250GTO, 250TR, 250GT SWB, and 250GT California Spyder.

Last Monday at Laguna Seca, found myself in the middle if a media presentation of the GT with Jacquy Stewart, Dan Gurney and two 360's on hand. The red 360 had a bumper sticker saying "I'd rather be driving a Ford GT" That was the car they took apart to get "ideas" for the GT. They had 3 finished GT's, one shell and last year's prototype. The production is nothing close to the prototype. They have unfortunately redesigned the entire suspension both in the front and the rear and the finish is...well Ford. I talked to an SVT product planning engineer who drives an NSX at home in Michigan and who answered with a smile when I asked him if the GT is really on par with the 360.
Car has a lot of power and torque but no goose bumps, at least for me .

Could Ferrari ever consider making a "Re-issue" of the 308,like Ford is doing with the GT(GT40) Yes,There will be posts from people who dislike 308's,or think that they should make a "re-issue" of another model. But,you cannot argue that the 308 is the most recognizable Ferrari, longest running body style (76-85,or including the similar looking 328,86-89)And,to alot of people think that it is a "timeless" look, like the GT40 is. And,pretty much everybody DOES like the 308,but,its 20 something years old,and there has been quite a few technological improvements in cars since then. But,could you imagine a 308,with all of the speed, power, creature comforts, and technological advancements, antilock brakes, traction control,etc... of a 360! What the hell! Why not!?

JAMESG: I can understand you not being into the Bling-Bling 22's, but the 5 inchers, even though low-profile, aren't gonna cut it.

Note the line that begins in center of headlight cutout and continues along top of fender on my P4.
It's easy to see on rear fender. Compare it to the line on the Red Ford GT on their web page.

If you click on the Ford GT link after the intro there is a pic at the top of the page of a new Red Ford GT. You can see the line I'm talking about. It's highlighted in white light.
Yes they are taking orders. Compare that line with the line on my P4 and you'll see what Camillio did.

Along the top of the fender line on the P4 is a sharp
edge that runs along the length of the nose and tail. If you look in the Vintage section P4 in red you can see it. The designer of the new Ford Camillio told me he copied that line along the top side of the Ford GT as an homage to the P4. When you see the car in person you'll see that line.

Interesting ,except I don't get the "body crease" part of your reply. Could you please develop a little more on that ?

This is true. Ford even bought and disaembled a 360. I met the Designer and Engineer's at Pebble. They were very nice and smart. This car is the real deal. They also hinted that this wasn't the end of Ford's involvement in this segment. IMHO this car and the Gallardo will keep Ferrari on their toes which will be good for all of us. There are two cool things about the new Ford GT. If you look at the headlights you'll notice they spell out "100" in honor of Ford's 100th and there is a body crease that the Designer told me is a tip of the hat to the P4.
