Don't hope for any major change in 2004. The change is in the headlight, it's now in black unlike in body colour like the current model. There'll the be the new front challenge grill and perhaps different turn-up at the rear deck lid. As for the engine there will be no change. The 440 upgrage is only a dream for the current model. Even the Stradale gets 25bhp more and they have to polish and match the inlet and exhaust ports to the head to achieve that. The model change will be showed during the September 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show and sale will start then. |

I don't think Ferrari, like most euro automakers, give the Model year as much importance as some of us do (especially those old enough to remember waiting for Detroit to unveil new cars every September). The Intro at a big auto show is very important and I was told that the car may be introduced in Paris in Oct 04 and sold in Europe starting spring 05 but not in the US until late summer 05, as an 06 model. |

I wrote Ferrari on this very point. They responded by telling me check with my dealer. Based on Ferraris' response, I am certain they do not want to commit as to when cars will be designated 2004's. It may well be some changes are plan for 2004 but introduction dates remain uncertain. Thus the non committal answer. |

Model years are not consistent. For example you can not rely that every October starts the new year. Here's why. The car manufacturer has to meet the new NHTSA standards (if there are any). Twice, as best as I can remember, the new model year for the 360 was delayed because it did not meet the new standards. Once was due to the 360 seats needing some part so a baby seat could be installed. Back in the year 2000, dealers were still getting 1999 360s until May of 2000. |

I've been anxious to know of the 360 replacement too. I have my own info but who knows if it is true. First of all, Automotive News' Luca Ciferri (some of you may know of him) has stated factory plans for the next 3 years as follows: 456 replacement 03 as an 04 car (we know that), 360 "redesign" and "enhanced power" in late 04 as an 05 model with possible presentation at the Paris show (10/04) and a redesign of the 575 in 06 as an 06 model. (AN defines "redesign" as new sheetmetal without radical change of shape (maybe like 348 to 355). I think he's one year early on the 360 prediction but he has confirmed it to me. The only thing certain (even our wonderful dealers know it) is that the powerplant will be the Maserati V8 with better breathing and more HP. |

Gordy: I'm getting an 04, and I think that the production date of October starts the new model year. As I understand it, the produciton date is the day they start to build the car, not the date they complete the car. My salesman knows what a blabber mouth I am, and refuses to tell me of any changes (he might not know of any). I hope that the 04 has some modifications, and is an improved model. Art |

italiaspeed.com 03.07.2003 FIRST SIGHTING OF REVISED FERRARI 360 MODENA IN MARANELLO -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The revised Ferrari 360 Modena, to be redubbed as the 400 Modena when it goes on sale in 2004, has been caught testing undisguised near the factory in Maranello. Despite strong sales figures, Ferrari is to update the 360 Modena in order to fight off increasing competition, in particular from the recently launched 500-bhp 5.0-litre V10 Lamborghini Gallardo which has raised the goalposts in this segment. Under the bonnet as the new name-change suggests the Modena's engine has been reworked, total capacity up from 3.6 to 4.0-litres through an increased bore and stroke. A power hike to 400-420 bhp will match 360 Challenge Stradale. Effectively a performance update, outwardly, only subtle modifications have been made to the Pininfarina design, with new redesigned Xenon headlights being the most recognisable change from the current 360 model. The former body-coloured headlamp carriers make way for purposeful black alternatives. The general shape of the units will remain the same. Thin multispoke alloy wheels currently fitted to the 360 Challenge shall be included in the stylistic makeover, delivering a greater stiffness. The subtle modifications are expected for spring next year, with a launch at the Geneva Motor Show planned, with the revised model being available in both Coupe and Spyder formats. The replacement for the Modena, to be called the 420 and possibly tagged 'Monza', is expected mid-2005 and will be fitted with a 500bhp ( 480 Nm ) 4.0-litre JTS V10.

Hmmm..an intermediate revision sounds good. However, I've not heard any official release about this. It's logical that they'd work it off the Challenge Stradale. |

Hey Willis, I heard of a slight revision to the current design will be available as an '04 (420hp, minor interior and exterior changes). And the new complete re-design is slated for the 2005/06 model year. |

If Ferrari product cycle's an indication, the 360 successor will be released AFTER the release of the 575M successor. We haven't heard much about that one yet. |

The dealer has told me that the '04's are made after the 1st of the year, but I thought as you, September 1, after returning from the plant shut down. Unfortunately the dealer has not always been the best source for information. They cannot tell me anything about any changes from the current specs in '03, Stradale pricing or possible additions to the current option list on the standard models. If I go for the Spider I really would want the CS style wheels. |

Most likely end of 2005 as a 2006 model. That's what I heard last time. HA! Tell me about the factory shut down in August! Took 3 weeks to get the parts and just two day to install, test, and test drive the car. |

I will take a guess at this and say that the new model year would start in September after the factory comes back to work after their month long shut down in August. I could be wrong. |

Does anyone know of the firm model change date of the 2004 Modena/Spider? Does the production of the 2004's begin on Jan.1? And of these new cars will they have the rumored changes to the current model or will they have a 2004.5 model that have the revisions? |
