Malcom,
how about on the Automatics, I think this is what most people are referring to.

Any truth to that?

Dave,

I can confirm 100% that the transaxles are
re-buildable, the only problems can be spare parts although we have 99% of all spare parts for transaxle repairs.

I have heard that the trans on these cars are not rebuildable and you have to purchase a new one for something like 40K+. Is this true or just a myth? Anyone confirm or not. This is one reason why they are priced so low, people don't want to get a car and then have to basically sink 1/2 its value into it, if the trans goes.

I just got a 95 456 a couple of weeks ago (see profile for pic). Great car-- two days after I got it I took it on a 500 mile trip to central Oregon.

It's amazingly smooth and competent-- just a great way to cover miles at high speed.

456Ms are worth a bit more than 456GTs for now. Personally, I like the look GT more, and there don't seem to be a lot of functional differences. The Ms still have considerable depreciation left-- I've not seen many (any?) 456Ms with asking prices less than $90k, and they go up to the mid-150s (remember, they are $240k MSRP new, and still available).

6-speed Ms seem to be pretty rare, also.

I would imagine that in 5-10 years, the premium for a 456M over a 456GT will be minimal.

Martin is right about the mods, especially the window fix. The invoice on mine was $9k for the window fix, but it was covered by FNA. My understanding is that FNA is no longer doing those fixes for free, so factor that in.

95s are good if the upgrades have been done and documented. If not stay clear.

You can find them as low as $ 50K with Miles on them.

Great car, great look, great deal if you ask me!

Totally underapprechiated car !

I am looking for one for my wife but a GTA

I'm starting to be interested in getting a 456M so Lee Pierce can have my Mondial. ;-)

What is a decent 456M six-speed worth these days? I've been told to avoid '95's like the plague. Any info would be appreciated. Also insight into the care/feeding to keep one of these running?
