Naw!! In my 30 years in the hobby. I have found that MOST car guys are pretty cool, only a VERY FEW assh*les. (which, are unescapable anywhere you go.) And,I am SURE that alot of guys (I would!) would like to hear from someone who told them; "hey, you know that old (your car here)that you used to own? Well,I have it now,and she's still in great shape!" Or whatever. MOST guys would LOVE to know where that car "ended up". I even had dreams, once in a while, that I had alot of the cars that I had owned, all in one garage. Back to me! And,especially, with a Ferrari ! Unfortunately, my Ferrari only had one owner, and cannot locate him. ( may have went on to his Re-ward!) I have even heard a story about a guy who bought an early 70's vette, new. Sold it when he got married,(how often do you see ads in the paper; "must sell-getting married!") Then, many years later, after the kids had grown up and moved away. He was trying to locate that car,and did! AND was able to buy it from the current owner! How cool is THAT! So,why not? |

I thought about contacting previous owners like when I owned some 60'-70's muscle cars who are usually glad to hear about the cars but figure ferrari owners might not give a crap. I have a owner history package but dont want to look like an ass if I start caling up old owners. |

I own a 1981-308GTSi,with a build tag showing January 1981 build. Car #35317. I sometimes wonder if there are any of the guys who built my car, still working there (they'd have had to have been fairly young, and, maybe even"newer" employees) , who very well likely could still be working at Ferrari today,22 years later.I'd Like to send them a picture of my car,and show them that its still in very good shape and is being taken care of by a loving owner! |

Paul, I suspect that it took several months to build your car from start to finish. My 308 shows a January 1977 build date however my serial number pre-dates several 1976 cars and I have not found a single component date stamped in 1977. At a recent Ferrari club event we visited the GM truck plant in Oshawa where they average 1362 trucks per 24 hour day. Total start-finish time for 1 truck is 20 hours and I am sure that Ferrari is many miles off of that especially in the 1970's. Chances are you car was started some time in 1978. |

Just wondered about the production tag. How long did it take to build a 308 and was the production tag stamped the day they started or completed the car? Im assuming it took more than 1 working day to complete. |
