Stick a bigger, stronger magnet on the inside of the fender (if possible) behind the badge. The tape type magnet material isn't the strongest.

It does it everywhere on the whole car. Maybe it was repainted. I also have several coats of wax on it....

Ed you car has been repainted and probably bondoed.

A good detailer will have a paint gauge and can measure the paint on your fender and see exactly where the bondo is.

Ed, just curious, but does it do the same on the opposite fender?

Paul, I'm putting them in the "usual" spot on the front fenders.... I know magnets don't stick to aluminum..LOL.. It does seem like the paint is "thick" I was wondering if other people experienced this, since I've seen this magnet technique recommended a few times on this board.

Ed, the magnets don't work on aluminum. Is that where you are trying to place them?

Ed,
There can be any number of reasons they don't stick too well. The most common would be either the car was repainted or the original factory primer/filler was put on a little thick to smooth out all those wavy panels. Either way, makes it hard for the magnet to stick through to the metal....

I have a set of magnetic shields and they don't stick very well to my car. Anyone else experience this? They stick well to my other cars. I haven't tried driving with them on, but I expect they will blow off.

The original ones were painted on.

Originals are bolted on. Aftermarket enamel cloisenette ones are available with either the two bolts in the back, or with a flat surface with adhesive for glue-on.

Stickers, or resin-coated, are available as either stick-on or magnetic.

If youare talking about the yellow Scudia shield, they come with a peel-away sticker on the back. Many people have peeled the backing and laid a thin magnet sheet on that side. At that point, you can trim the excess away. This works very nice.

I think they are normally bolted on.

Are they bolted on or glued on?
