Just got back from Norwood. They repaired my chair w/in 1 hour while I was there. Mike & James were entertaining & educating me while I was there. And they did it at no charge. What nice people they are. I just wanted to post this. Tom, thanks for detailed PM. |

After reading these replies, I realize this problem is not rare. I talked to the shop, and they said it can be fixed in short time. I am considering to do the work myself, but probably will take it to the shop. (I have dealt broken bolts on Mustang & Porsche, not seat-related though) I am just surprised one bolt was basically keeping a seat together. |

The same thing happened to me in my 328, twice. The first time a coin had become lodged in the seat adjustment mechanism and had literally sawed through the bolt. It's not a terribley difficult fix once you get the seat out of the car. However, you may need a tap and die if the bolt has damged the threads. |

I recently noticed the seat bolts were loose in the Mondial, which I am certain if left loose could result in such a failure. |

While driving on Hwy, POW/BANG, suddenly my view shifted upward of a windshield. I thought I got hit by rear-end. NO, recliner part of seat fell all the way to backward. I am glad I didn't get in any accident!!! I found the bolt head lying around at left side of a driver's seat. Apparently the bolt connecting sitting section & reclining section broke. It is located by a knob to change reclining degree on left of driver seat. I was surprised only 1 bolt held these 2 parts of a seat together. Since a bolt is broken, part of thread is still in a hole. Is this common problem? (I never had this problem w/ other cars) Is this easy to fix? |
