No one has a *running* BMW V12 powered car yet :-)

Not enough power for my tastes. Something about a 2700lb kit car with a 650RWHP engine is about right hehe.

I love it! Finally a use for all of our dated-looking TRs that we can't even give away...Honda Accord Kit Cars ("Its not a real Honda, its actually a kit based on a Ferrari Testarossa") Upload

These are all amateur conversions... Let's see someone convert a Diablo or a Testarossa into an Accord or a Tercel... Yeah... :-)

I've even seen where they used a BMW V12 for a Diablo kit.. Real Nice Package..

Way too much money but the power to weight is great...

The only way to go for a lambo-inspired kit is a full tube chassis. I myself have toyed with using a twin-turbo Viper V10 (as I am no stranger to the V10).

There are those who build kit cars on fieros with stock motors (blah!) and then there are those who create works of art with inspiration from an original.

Also,if you used a Fiero donor, there's a guy out here,"V8 Archie",that has done,(or sold, helped)MANY guys convert their Fiero's to V8 power-Even the latest model engine versions. They have done really well and have a good success rate. Now THAT is what I would do for a kit car! Any GM replacement parts, easy to find, inexpensive. Can build the sh*t out of the motor. AND..sparing a Bella Ferrari,in the process!

The wheel base on the 308 is way too short for a Diablo kit.. They would need to cut the chassis and lengthen the breaks and transmission cables to make it work..

On a Fiero that is an inexpensive process. A Ferrari, just keep it as is or get 911 or Vette.

The only Body kit I would every do on a real 308 would be the 288 GTO..........Keep it in the family.

I still think this is nuts, but tried to find some logic:

There are 308 conversion kits for Fieros that actually don't look bad. That sortof tells me, that the Fiero must have a similar body as the 308.

There are also Diablo kits for Fieros that look ok. So maybe this guy is thinking, that a Diablo kit on a 308 might actually work. And it would have a lot more umph and exotic touch than a Fiero.

I'm not supporting this, just trying to follow the logic. If there is any. If I were this guy, I'd still rather buy a cheap old Lambo and rebody it as a Diablo. That would make more sense. What's he gonna do with his Diablo now? See Lambo guys, open the hood and they're gonna see a Ferrari engine? Outch!

Agreed. Some "kit cars" are pretty cool. Like the McBurnie vette/Daytona Spiders. You cannot touch a real Daytona Spider for much(any?) less than $300K. And,some of the Cobra kits, and Lambo kits are O.K.,too. But,for what you would pay for one of these kits, you COULD have a REAL Ferrari,or Lambo. Albeit an older one. And,use a GM or other chassis...NOT a REAL FERRARI! Saw an ad for a Diablo "kit car" with a GM chassis and drivetrain, for $79K. There are ALOT of REAL Lambo's and Ferrari's that you can get for THAT money.

For someone who wants a Ferrari or Lamborghini so bad but can't get one, I think the kitcar thing is cool..

For someone to have a Ferrari and want to change it to something else is against the codes of conduct..

Makes no sense.

I hate to say this but some people just don't deserve to have art like a Ferrari. Like all art its for everyone to enjoy, look at, and admire. Not to make fake. There should be a law against this!

There is NO reason to use a 308 frame/drivetrain for a diablo kit. The dimensions are way off, suspension will need to be changed. windshield rake is wrong, also the wrong size. Powerplant will not do much in the way of powering a kit (which I cannot stand when they use a low end powerplant like the fiero 6), let alone the fact that it is EXPENSIVE for what he is trying to accomplish. The wheels will have to be custom machined to fit the Ferrari hubs. The list goes on and on.

This is just not something you would use for a kit. Hell, a VW floorpan would make a better solution than hacking up a 308!

I don't mind kits that are done for just as much GO as there is SHOW. Take pride in ones work to build, but don't slap emblems and crappy paint on a 4banger with a stock fiero interior :/

I think he has had trouble selling this car, and he is just using this story as a ploy to get somebody to buy the car before it gets parted out

Perhaps it is sick way of generating buzz about the car? a "Someone buy it and save it from this madman for only 25K" kind of thing?

If he is serious...........uggg.

"parting out the car for kit mod and selling the parts"

(interpretation: stole a 308 and selling off all the parts)

I don't understand why someone would even attempt this!? Wrong wheel base, width, suspension will need total revision.. let alone one expensive engine to service. You would get a higher output and cheaper to boot with a fiero doner! Ugggg..

And it's in good shape. A burnt car with a good frame... perhaps (still..a Diablo replica? ugg) but not a solid original.

Oh well, what can ya do.

Idiotic move to turn it into a kit car... but wouldn't $25,000 be a pretty decent price for the car as it is, before being parted out?
