Excellent question
ALL standard carriers take for ever, and some are not very careful

best way, fastest way, is to use a dedicated carrier who has a big dullie truck with a race style trailer, and he's only carrying 1 or 2 cars.
those guys drive straight through, virtually non stop (and they don't mess with your car, once it's in the trailer it stays in the trailer)
std carrier cost = $1500
Dedicated cost = more like $2200 (but worth every penny) IMHO

there's some guys in Dupont Registry, work out of georgia (i think)

Madmaxx, what website??? I need a place to vent.

An outfit named: Mackie in the Northwest trashed a Trans Am I shipped from Vancouver to NJ. They just walked away from the trouble that included a trashed rearend. Someone took it for a joy ride.

Hi Bruce, Gus, Hutch, Adam, Des, Lens, Todd, I'm still alive just buried (picture that)

I have never gotten a range! You tell them from City A to CIty B and it will cost you $X

Time wise they can tell you the truck is there and there and will take so many days to pick up and then it usually takes X days to come to your location.

Now they can not give you up front an exact delivery date because it changes as cars are being loaded and unloaded and traffic changes.

When I do buy... I think a week road-trip is in order LOL.

That would be an interesting drive.

the furthest i got was getting a quote and all they would give me was a "range", which at the time didn't bother me b/c that was all i was looking for. i did find it strange though - sedan from houston to santa monica, how much simpler can you get?

wonder if i woulda gotten the same run-around in the end...

James,
if they have a truck in the area they could make it in 5 days. The trip alone will take 3-4 days and they have stops on the way.

Usually they do it in 7-10 days. You have to call around though to all companies and see who is closest to pick up your car and your car has to be ready, meaning paid and ready for release.

I paid ~1300$ for the lotus and it was a friggin mess and hassle. Live and learn I guess, found a website that has ratings and reviews of different companies.

I'd pay more to get the car faster than 15 days!GRRR!

you can fly it....

i think it's $3K to get a car from germany to jfk in ny on lufthansa in the belly of a 747.

cheaper LA to SC?

if you can spare the time, driving it is probably the easiest solution. if you can drive 12 hours per day you can do it in three days. a good break-in endurance test for the beast ;-)

doody.

Lets say I found a nice F-car in Cali, and wanted to get it to SC rather quickly. Are there any transport companies that can do >5 day shipping?

I had my lotus shipped from CA, and I was NOT happy with the carrier. Took WAAAAAAAY to long, too many delays and BS from their customer reps.

Thanks
James
