Gogeous ! I know that Pavesi (550 convertible)made some Testarossa spyder but no 512M. It is probably Straman, who made a lot of Ferrari cabriolet.
Is there anyone who has more informations about this 512M cabrio, like his chassis number or the location ?

Looks real cool...

The Road&Track Ferari-issue had an article on Stramans first - a TR in black was done for a Michael Jackson commercial or video. Not sure what it did to the handling and ride but it sure looked great!

dont know which came first... Stramans or the "official" car done by Pinifarina for Mr. Agnelli (sp?) of Fiat-fame.

It may be sacriligeous but i think i liked Straman's better...

Thats the first 512m i've seen tho... mighty fine...

I have a 1988 issue of road and track on ferraris alone and there was an article about a white testarossa convertible done by straman and the article gave it an excellent rating, but then again they didnt talk about rain while they tested the car, so I cant say about leaks or not.

Saw a 400 convertible in Italy and have to say it looked really good. Still think the cluttered F512M wheels were a step back from the 512TR.

DES: It did take "GUTS"!!
At the time I lived in Atlanta Georgia. Strahman said" you really don't want to see this car until it is complete. You wouldn't like seeing the Work in Progress" It almost scared me and I'm fearless!
mine was the second one he had ever done but
I knew of his reputation so I took a shot.
I actually sold the car for more than I was in it. (dodged another bullet!)

It must take serious guts to hack off the top of your car...

Kenny and i saw a 'kit' version of a 'Testarossa Barchetta' at WWOC...

no problems with Strahman conVersions!
My car on the cover of Nov 1987 Sports Car Illustrated. And cover of Road & Track about same time.

A damn shame that had to happen to such a rare car.

Ernesto,

There was a black 512M chop top out there. The one with the ugly Ostrich hide for the interior..

With only 500 examples of this car world wide, I feel it is a unique conversion but it will hurt the value for resale..

I have a magazine from sometime in the mid-late 80's,that has an article about TR Cab.conversions. I recall that it was pretty cool article. Will try to find it. Yes...I agree. They definitely DO look nice! And,besides, who would really take it in the rain, intentionally, anyway? Or,keep it out in Phoenix...NO rain there! (no leaks) Also think that the TR cab. top looks a hell of alot better than the top on the 550 Barchetta! (my opinoin!)

Honestly its a shame they never produced (other than the few offs) a spyder version of the TR. I have seen a couple and they look simply amazing.
