Does anyone know what Ferrari charges the dealer for a SD2?

Kurt,
Hmm...I don't understand your post.

If my memory serves me correctly, you are "formula racing"...and are indeed the person currently selling the SD2 tester on e-bay. Seems the first one you had had a price of only $12K.

Am I mistaken with your e-bay identity? I don't think so...but I could be wrong.

Regards,

David

Chris, Kurt, & Rob are all correct: these have been & continue to be acquired 100% legally. A current FC poster does, in fact, have both an SD1 & an SD2 machine, and all but the Enzo software codes for them, and has broken no laws doing so.

Stealers, er, dealers may get pi$$ed off, but who cares? Some of these arrogant a$$clowns really need a dose of competition to humble them just a bit. And, since I know for a fact that at least one of the folks I am talking about are reading these posts regularly, I think this sort of competition cannot come soon enough.

Simply, if there are dozens out there and they aren't in dealers hands, then the OEM is selling them back door or someone else is producing a copy.

Rumour has it that the SD2 wasn't "stolen" & was purchased completely on the legit.

I also heard that someone on the list has an SD2, is there a market for "renting" these testers out for the weekend warriors?

There is a Ferrarichat member with his own SD2 tester....

This was discussed before, not sure if he still has it or if it ended up back with Ferrari. (Ferrari was threatening legal action)

One of my best friends has a SD1 tester and lets friends borrow it for free..

Well, there are dozens of these out of dealer hands from what I've heard. So no, they aren't all stolen. Dealers are only allocated a certain number, so there's demand for these on the open market from dealers too. Must be a supplier leak or something like that.

If you know where to look you can get these for $12-18k.

Won't be long before cheaper alternatives appear when someone takes the time to figure the software out.

From a business perspective what would be better than having a virtual monopoly on servicing your cars because no independents can get a SD2.

this guy must have been a dealer, way too much stuff to be stolen(ok legality of SD2 asside)

It is my understanding that if it isn't owned by a Ferrari dealer, then it is stolen.

BTW: It would ONLY be good until the FIRST problem with it.......how would one get it fixed?

Sounds like it could be a good investment for an independent. I thought these were proprietary property of Ferrari, is this not the case?
