What the dealers and Ferrari UK are telling me is that the part is no longer supplied by Factory. Last list price was about $800.

I have located a replica for $400, but it is a replica and it doesn't have electronic motor. I don't know about the mirror glass. I need the original glass with blue/green tint. Maybe it can be retrofitted with a motor and glass, I don't know. I have the working motor from the old one. The glass is broken.

Ryan, the car is in Indy for USGP festivities, etc., and was hit there in a neighborhood near the track. Denver's reputation is intact, for the moment.

Hi Jim. I have reproduction TR mirrors in stock for your car. They will need to be painted. $700 for the mirror. The only drawback is the mirror glass itself is not the blue/green tinted glass, just regular mirror glass. I can send pictures if you like.

Jim, try contacting these people http://www.ferrariservice.ws located in Costa Mesa, CA, ask for Mike. They always have many cars being parted out, and their website shows a TR being parted out currently. If he doesn't have it, I'll bet he might know people. I wouldn't be surprised if your search ended here.

If not them I also once found these guys on the web http://www.douglasvalley.co.uk These guys are dismantlers with plenty of Ferraris.

Good Luck

Also Try

www.sodacoms.com

I have gotten hard to find parts for my '94 512TR from them. Very helpful and nice people. If they don't have it, they will do a wordwide search for you.

Try them.

Where are the salvage cars when you need them? I wish "www.wreckedexotics" would have people post the picture AND information of where half those cars are. I see parts that I need!

What?! That's what the girl's mother said? What kind of example is she setting for her daughter? As Denver resident, I am appalled. One of the reasons I like Denver so much is how nice the people are. This really bothers me. Should I even ask what neighbourhood? That's crazy. What did the little girl say.

Ok,

When you say Ferrari Can't help, is it because of the exporting laws that apply to cars newer than 10 years, or that they just don't have stock.

Btw, the list price on the 512TR L/HH Door mirror is a "mere" $2184.00

For that price, i would locate 2 and put one buy as a spare.

James, there is a part of the post that fits into the swivel bracket that shattered. The remains are concave on both sides. I don't see how it can be bonded, except permanently bonded onto the bracket. That would be a problem since my car then won't go onto my lift. Ferrari UK can't help me. Ferrari of Denver sent out an email to everyone they could think of, no reply. See tech post on Broken mirror for pics.

I sent a request to Ted Rutland. No reply. Will try anything..thanks for the leads.

Jim,
thats good to hear that the girl is not hurt and fine. To me more important than a mirror which I can buy for money. Of course I understand your reaction and fury, trouble to see that your beloved Ferrari (in Mint condition) is hurt.
Call Martin, and you will be happy again with a new mirror. Good Luck!

Ferrari Denver sent out an email to everyone they can think of as a possible source...so I guess I ruled out other dealers in my mind

i woudln't make that assumption. there's some weird and stupid politics between various FNA dealers.

you should call around. also check with the UK guys - sponsors of this board.

doody.

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate incident, Jim.

With regards to the mirror...have you tried places like www.allferrariparts.com or TRutlands? You might also try giving Lyle or Brian a call at www.ferraripartsexchange.com.

Hope you're able to source one soon. FWIW, Ferrari.UK (Maranello Sales) said that the TR should be added to the vintage parts list around 2004 or soon thereafter (once the TR fits the 10 year old window). Just what I've been told.

Wolfgang, the girl is fine. She actually didn't even fall off her bike. Unfortunately, it banged its way down the side of my car, but I think a good body guy can buff out the scratches and scrapes. I will ask Martin, thanks for the advice. I should have thought of that. (Ferrari Denver sent out an email to everyone they can think of as a possible source...so I guess I ruled out other dealers in my mind)

What a f-ing nightmare. I have a '91 TR with 9,000 miles. Car is immaculate, showroom condition. An 8yr old girl on a bicycle runs a stopsign and hits my car, breaking the mirror. THEY ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE FROM FACTORY...worldwide search is coming up blank!!!! The car looks like an child with an amputated limb without the mirror and is not drivable (safely) due to the blind spot. Can you believe this? Come on Ferrari, the car is not a relic. There are thousands on the streets...WTF? I am hoping that tomorrow I will wake up and it was just a nightmare.... Ughh.
