my 512TR racer has 450 hp & weighs 2850, got to drop some more weight :-)
Doesnt the F40LM have like 700 hp ?

I hope this transmission is stonger than the F40LM's. Thats what knocked all the F40LMs out at LeMans

Since we are in the $500k price range. How about golf club carrying race car?

I just thought it was a neat photo.

SLR V8 612 hp and 575lb-ft torque, As for its usefulness, the SLR has trunk space to fit two sets of golf clubs. McLaren's Gordon Murray says SLR has lower moment of inertia than the McLaren F1 supercar makes it a spectacular handler.

Not that i've ever even been in a 575, but i challenge any one of you who has $780,000 to take a ride in that car around a track and then see if you still think it's not worth it or if you'd take a Viper or Murcielago GTC over it... i bet that car kicks major, major ass... & look at it... it LOOKS like it just finished kicking major, major ass... It looks like it'll dig a hole in your chest if you even LOOK at it for too long (don't stare)...

look, look, look, look, LOOK AWAY...!
look, look, look, look, LOOK AWAY...!
look, look, look, look, LOOK AWAY...!

just when I thought Ferrari was lagging behind by not producing a factory backed 12 cylinder GT-race car.... this 575 GTC pops up.

its great to see a very competitive mix in racing - GTS class would have Ferrari, Corvettes & Lambo next year (I hope vipers come back in the mix also)

GT class would still have the classic battle against porsche and bimmers

how many of these will be made? any insights?

The Ferrari owners site released the following information on the new 575 GTC, enjoy....

Following on from the success of privately-entered 550 Maranellos in international GT racing, including a historic class win in the 2003 Le Mans 24 Hours, Ferrari has developed its own in-house evolution of the new 575M Maranello, the 575 GTC (where the C stands for Competizione).

Developed specifically for the FIA GT and GrandAm championships, the 575 GTC berlinetta features considerable modifications, starting with an increase in displacement from the production cars 5,748 cc to 5,997 cc with a slightly longer stroke. Specific cam timing and Marelli engine management with the FIA regulation 31.8mm restrictors see power increase to 600 bhp which, when matched by the longest gearing of the optional final drives available, ensures a theoretical top speed of 335 km/h (208 mph). The gearing for Monza allows an effective top speed of 288 km/h (179 mph) and that for Estoril 270 km/h (168 mph).

Front and rear track have both been increased while the cars dry weight has been drastically reduced to just over the minimum allowed weight of 1150 kg (2,530 lbs) thanks to the use of a specific tubular spaceframe chassis with composite body panels.

Lengthy wind tunnel testing has gone into developing the 575 GTCs aerodynamics and the car sports a flat underbody with rear diffuser to FIA/ACO regulations, and an adjustable front spoiler together with a split rear wing with Gurney flap. All-round double wishbone suspension features adjustable damping, and adjustable anti-roll bar and anti-dive geometry at the front. Braking is by courtesy of Brembo with 6-pot callipers at the front and 4-pot callipers at the rear.

The ex-factory price of the 575 GTC is 700,000 excluding taxes and delivery. For information on the production schedule and availability, please click on Car Purchase on the right-hand side of this page and complete the form.
