Dan,

I have to agree with you on that one, F1 '02 is extremely hard. For the first while I left on some of the assisting options, just to get a good feel of the controls, but, even after extensive practice, I still find it hard to get a respectable place (with no drive aids). It has got to be the most advanced racing game to this date, however. The detail and changeable geometry of the cars is amazing.

Here's a secret, If you buy GT force, buy PC version, not a PS2 version. PC version is a little more expensive with better motor for force feedback system and it still works with PS2......

first time i played F355 Challenge i was at Dave and Busters and i got hooked. i wanted to get it for PS2 but if i didn't have the wheel and pedals i didn't think it'd be worth it.

but as for the wheel and pedals i heard that there is a new set coming out specifically designed with Gran Turismo 4 in mind, it's one of the best coming out is what i've heard.

Check out "racer", www.racer.nl
It's free and you can download, among others, a P3, Enzo, 360 and 308GTB.
Nice helikopterview, like driving an RC controlled toy car. It's hard to stay on the track though, the 308 at 50 mph is spinning left to right, nervous and tailhappy.

An awesome racing game with F-cars is Project Gotham Racing for the Xbox. It's a little more arcade than sim, but the physics are great and the car differences are noticable. Has the 355, 360 and F-50, including the spider versions... the sequel will have the Enzo and I've seen screenshots with a Dino.

I've see the EA Need For Speed series has Ferrari's but it's not as cool IMO.

Owjeah, that game is waaaaay cool. To bad it doesn't work on my laptop, so only at my computer at home. I'm there once every 4 weeks or so. And not a lot of time behind my comp :-(

If you guys want a realistic racing simulation try Grand Prix Legends on your pc with a force feedback steering wheel and pedals. The premise is you are back in time driving in the 1967 Grand Prix season. The first time I tried it I was blown away by the reality of the physics. It is not easy, if it was, everyone could drive a '67 GP car. How would you like to drive the '67 Ferrari 312 at the Nurburgring? Oh yeah! This sim is so realistic that actual racing experience helps a lot to shorten the steep learning curve. Be careful, like the real thing, it is very addictive.

The Joytech Williams wheel is $69.00 from Exoticar Model Company. There are a lot of wheels for Playstation, including three or four Thrustmaster Ferrari wheels, and the Logitech wheels. If money is no object, there are the full racing seats with a platform to mount the wheel in front of you.

I think the Joytech one is the best for me since you can place it on your knees. All the others need to be mounted to a table. That is fine for a PC, but I don't have a table in front of my TV. You can sit on the couch or a chair and have the wheel right in front of you on your lap.

The Joytech wheel has every feature I can think of, but the steering sensitivity button is what sold me. It plugged right in and works with F355 Challenge, F1 2002, WRC, and 24 Hours of LeMans much better than the standard controllers.

You need to read the manual and in each game configure what you want the buttons to do, activate the paddle shifters or the normal stick, and other features.

There's another wheel setup by Logitech including pedals.

I'm looking into one of those seats to mount the wheel into and... well, too much time on my hands. Time I'll have once I transition to SD and begin taking care of bills and growing the car fund hehe.

The game is hard to learn with the Playstation controllers, so I bought the Joytech Williams F1 wheel. I wanted one of the Ferrari wheels, but none of them allow you to place it on your knees.

The wheel makes it closer to the arcade game with the paddle shifters, steering wheel buttons and peddles. You can even press a "sensitivity" button to increase or decrease the steering input. If you play a lot (like when it is snowing and the real thing is in the garage), it is a good investment. Until I bought it, the game sat idle a lot, but now I can get around most tracks fairly well. Long Beach is my favorite. Still can't complete a lap of F1 2002, though.

The only place I have seen it for sale in the US, and where I got mine, is Exoticar...oops.

Have any of you played the complete simulation F355 game at Dave and Busters (is that just a Philly/NY/etc place???)? You actually sit inside the thing and have 3 large screens surrounding you, allowing you to see what you would see from the seat of the 355. You also have a regular stick or paddles attached to the steering wheel, and you choose what you want to use. Other than that, the game play is very similar to Dreamcast/PS2.

I have the dreamcast version of F355 Challenge. I thought it was very poor. The graphics were ok, but it was not much fun to play. Also, it does not sound like an F-car. My favorite, although it lacks an F-car is Grand Turismo 3 (A-Spec) on the PS2. I have played games with better graphics, but none more realistic in driving dynamics.

I have it...Crummy graphics and the cars sound nothing like a 355, they buzz. I can only do well on the oval tracks...

I have it on Dreamcast and its basically the same game only it looks slightly better on the PS2, thats why i didnt buy it again.

Yep its very hard ! Just practice a lot and you might finish 2nd :-)

Look for some cheats on the net and you can play at Fiorano track ! At least on the dreamcast version !

Just got the Ferrari F355 Challenge racing game. Pretty good but very hard. Can't believe how realistic it is (for a video game). Anyone else have it? Any pointers?
