I'm not even sure it was an index card. Could have been the back of a matchbook. But Werner is a friend and would give me the straight scoop.

I'm going to call Shelton anyway, already bought 2 cars from them in one year so I should have some goodwill there.

Solly, he's putting names on index cards? Pretty hi-tech. I guess the bathroom wall must have been full of Enzo hopefuls!

my understanding was 900 units total, 300 coming to NA. that's about 8 or 9 per dealer if they're allocated evenly (which they won't be). if it's 250 cars, then it's more like 7 per dealer, right?

would be curious to hear if anyone knows if these numbers are incorrect.

my dealer will happily take a deposit on a CS, but he thinks they're all sold. they still don't know exactly how the allocations will work, aparently.

doody.

David
I think they are available. If someone really wants one they should see their dealer.

James - is the CS really available. I thought they had a limited production run and were pretty much spoken for. The number 250 to the US per year seems to come to mind. Just curious.

I guess things are different at each dealer. My dealer has no list (though they have over 80 names still on the 360 list), they told me that they are not taking any more deposits to put people on the 360 list.

James, I agree with you as well, enjoy the cars that are out there now, all this guessing on what the next car will be is just guessing, no one here really knows what coming next. I love my 360 coupe, and I'm sure I'll love my spider even more.

Solly,
I can assure you that Pinninfarina has already designed the car. In fact they are likely working already on the machines that will produce the body pieces. I assume there will only be slight variations between the two in the first place, like the 348/355 and the 308/328.

Call your salesman or Will at Shelton. First they do not take deposits in the first palce but service their clients (of which you are one) and second I believe they start gathering their list together.

IMHO finding a great car NOW is no prob. PGT2's are avail and discounted. The Gallardo can be ordered and had soon. Mercie's are below MSRP.
There are 360's
for sale. 550/575,it's a buyers market. A great Daytona? 135K. 360CS are still avail. Why worry about a car that won't exist for years?

Not to get off course here, but I sure hope Ferrari will give it more hp's than that to compete with the current market right now especially in 2005. Lambo, is ahead of the game and Ferrari needs to step up. Is it just me or is it that the older Ferrari's; Rossa, 288, F40, etc.. put a stamp on all this and now Ferrari seems to be taming the cars so-to-speak. MHO.

Enzo being the exception of course.

I talked to my dealer about this yesterday. Here's how the list works with them: There is no list ofrthe replacement. You get on the 360 list and if your turn comes when the replacement is out then you get the replacment.

The current list is not long enough to ensure a replacement coupe but apparently the spider list is. And it's a 10k deposit here.

The real dillemma is not whether or not to get on the list but when. I would hate to get on the list right this minute and get one of the last of the current model 360s instead of the updated car.

Some dealers have started their list for the 360 replacement. I have a winter home in the Phoenix area. I talked to Scottsdale Ferrari last month. The sale's person told me they already have 72 people on the list who have put down the required $5K deposit. I have no idea what Scottsdale's allocation numbers are for 360s but it's probably 15-20 cars a year. By the time the 360 replacement comes out, Scottsdale Ferari will already have presold their entire 5-6 year production run. Also remember, every dealer has "prefered" customers who do not have to get on the list. The bottom line for some customers is that if they have not done business with their dealer in the past, their chance of getting the 360 replacement is slim.

my understanding is that most of the dealers have already sold most, if not all, of their CS allocations. so it being "hot" is relatively moot.

while 360 spiders are still in demand, and six-speeds remain scarce, the wait lists for 360 F1 coupes are minimal. total CS production would only take a few months to chunk out of the factory if they ran them exclusively. 360 supply should catch up with demand by Q3 or Q4 2004, and we'll see new cars on dealer lots by the time the replacement comes around - just like when the 355 sailed out.

other dealers absolutely have started their lists for the 360 replacement.

a late 2005 start jives with what's been discussed previously (2+2 in 2003, 575 replacement in 2004, 360 replacement in 2005). interesting to hear it from, if not the horse's mouth, something close to it :-).

doody!

Just returned from Miller Motors and spoke with Werner. There is no official list and they are not taking deposits for the 360 replacement, and he has been told by people who know that the 360 replacement with the 4.2 litre block won't be out until at least 2005 in coupe form, 2006 in spider. He has been putting interested parties' names on index cards and will contact them when Ferrari makes it official. He wouldn't even take a deposit. Don't hold your breath.

Ferrari still can't keep up with demand for the current 360 spider, and Pinninfarina hasn't designed the 360 replacement yet.

The Stradale is the "hot" car from now until 2005. The new 360 (or 420, or whatever) will have a larger engine (approx 450bhp) but only minor styling changes, similar to the 348 to 355 transition.
