Happy birthday Dale - congratulations on all your accomplishments. Your story was great - some days start off badly, go down hill cos of this and that. Then we remember what we have to be grateful for and it turns around. Suddenly,we can have the capacity to mellow and enjoy - sounds like you did. Cheers. |

I had my blues in August, not an eventful birthday this year. But I looked around and wondered how I could possibly ask for more. Happy bday Dale. |

Happy Birthday, and congratulations! My son graduated from Dartmouth this past June, and now teaches 10th grade English in Fl. Plans to go to law school next year. The lonliness one feels when everyone is grown and or gone is dark. But, nothing better than a dose of passion (for your car) to get your mind off of things and relax. |

Sippin' 30yo Macallan and it was a blue day? I just finished a nice glass of 18yo...can't afford the extra 12 years! Sounds like you've done well with your life. And I'm not talking about your house or F-car or 30yo Scotch. I'm talking about your daughter. The fact that you've raised a child who is now an Ivy leaguer speaks volumes about your parenting. Not every kid that goes to an Ivy has had good parents, but a damn high percentage of them do. Be proud of your children, your wealth (material and other), enjoy your scotch, and have a happy b-day! I hope your 52nd brings you a smile! |

...because I turned 51 today. The problem is not the typical birthday blues. Turning another year older has never meant that much to me. No, the problem is that my 50th was so neat. This time last year I had just dropped my daughter off for freshman orientation at Dartmouth.. I was sitting on the green... sipping 30-year old Macallan... watching the sun set... and pinching myself because I had a daughter that was going to an Ivy League school! Who would have ever thunk it? Was it possible that I had finally grown up? Also, it has been raining all week. Yesterday was a bummer with remembering 9/11. My wife and daughter are in London. My son is out with his girlfriend. This past year has been the usual deadlines and pressures of a being a self-employed one-man band. Rob and JR are fighting, again. Like Neil Young sang, Everybody else is out having fun, and Im a fool staying home and having none. Then the sun came out, and I remembered that in my garage I have gin-u-wine Italian Station! And, guess what! I can drive it anytime I want. GREAT GAWD ALMIGHTY! So Im slipping out the back way while everybody else is listening to traffic reports and trying to get home. Granted, a Maranello is fun to drive at any speed, but when you give that puppy some breathing room, man oh man, life is very good. I know that a lot of you enjoy the social aspects of Ferrari ownership, and so do I. However, like Mr. Throughgood sez, When I drink alone, I prefer to drink by myself. To me, the most fun is just driving by myself, with nobody else to please, but myself and, of course, my car. Later after a beer (just one) and a burger at the lake, and roasting in the spa in my backyard, I decided that this was a pretty good birthday after all. Dont get me wrong. Im not equating my kids successes to a having a Ferrari. But having a F-Car sure helps. Indeed, my main motivation in getting the car was to blow off stress. Gotta say, it works pretty darn good. See you further on up the road, Dale
