I did capture some of the F1 engine running. I'm a terrible videogapher, so the composition leaves much to be desired, and the camera reached its storage limit just as the enigine was starting to reach full song (memory buffer maxes out at about 35 seconds). But I'm happy to share what I got. There are two video clips at http://brokenpoint.net/kirklandconcours. Don't try to run them from the server; it won't allow streaming video. Just download the clips and view locally. Meanwhile, here are a few stills I took:  Nothing like the sound of a race car at 7:30AM.  One way to cool the charge of a supercharged intake. A fabulous collection of non-Ferrari marques as well. The Alfa 2900's were spectacular. My favorite was the Hispano-Suiza Dubonnet. I'll post some of these pictures in Off Topic tonight. DJ | ||

Whoa, Great pics guys. I feel like I'm seeing more here than I managed to see in person at the show. There was so much to see it all became a bit of a blur after a few hours. I'll go through my pics and see if I have anything to add. Maybe the high point for me, aside from just seeing it all come together, was working in the remote parking lot early Saturday morning, and watching and hearing John Goodman's 312 head down the street to get to the show. It's one thing to see and hear that car at the Historic races: quite another to watch it blast down the block. He lit those steam roller sized rears like they were bicycle tires. Keep your ears and eyes open for next year. We're just getting this baby started and are already making plans for bigger and better shows in the coming years. | ||

William, This show was held at Carillon Point in Kirkland, WA yesterday. This was the first hometown show where all the major local collectors presented their fine cars. Prominent CA collector John Mozart showed up in a few of his beauties (and won Best of Show). | ||

your right. nothing looks good under fake lighting. the bright blue sky and sun are the only way to see cars like these. a vaccume sealed room is like a jailcell for a old ferrari. | ||

I've seen quite a few of these cars in their private collection displays. It's really nice to see them under the gorgeous blue sky for once. They seemed more alive under natural lighting. I heard that the Porsches were at the other car show at Chateau St. Michelle.  | ||

i know most of them have never been displayed here until today. its just shocking that with all the money in this town we did not have a show like this sooner. i hope it gets bigger and better. im not going to get down to pebble anytime soon, so im glad a high end car show came to us. plus no porsches either.lol | ||

i was there with my pops, and have to say it was a awsome showing. i did not expect so many ferraris. the F1 was a nice touch. not so loud at idle but when that thing got spinning the high pitch made the inside of my head hurt.lol. nice to see all these fine cars that you never get to see in seattle. a nice taste of what pebble is. | ||

J Micael Jordan and a bunch of people in email have asked what camera I used to take thepictures today... It is a Nikon 5700, on manual and automatic apeture mode at full resolution of 2560x1920. It has a wonderful 8x optical zoom using Nikon ED glass. I typically shoot (as I did today) with a polarizing filter. The artifacting (blured/digital looking lines, most prominentinthe F40 image at the very bottom of the page) were introduced during the resizing of the image and are not visible in the full size original. Unfortunately I didn't have my grey card to properly set white balance at the beginning so everything is tinged slighly blue. Ahh well, such is life. Kenny Herman (Kennyh) asked for full size photos - I'll see whether I can easily find a place to host the photos. They consume roughly 208MB, so I can't mail the whole batch to you... if anyonehas a web site thatwould accept that much for sharing out to others for free then let me know! | ||

Gary, I was at the back of Dave Smith's 94 F1 car when he fired it up. They kept the crowd clear anywhere near the car's backside. Rightly so, as the car was shooting flames out the back as it got going. The sound was something else. Handing out ear plugs to the crowd was a nice touch. | ||

OK, here are a few I took. I'll try not to repeat what everyone else posted. Some are not Ferraris (Alfas are close enough) but they are rare. GW's 250LM  backside of the 250LM  Jon Shirley's 1949 166MM  Jon Shirley's 1956 290MM  Bruce McCaw's 1953 375MM (note the rear fender scoops are from a Boeing B29 bomber with Boeing serial numbers)  275GTS nice to see youngsters enjoying these classics  Enzo at the winner's circle (won the newer than 1970's category)  People checking out the back of the Ferrari lane  The trophies  Winners' circle   Honorary Chairman Edward Herrmann and Keith Martin to his right  The following pics are a few interesting non-Ferrari italians cars. 1938 Alfa-Romeo 2900 B Coupe  1938 Alfa-Romeo 8C 2900 Spyder (Best of Show Winner)     Not italian but very intriguing. 1938 Hispano-Suiza Dubonnet Tear Drop  front end of the 38 hispano with a few ladies leaning in for closer look  interesting hinge details  1913 Hispano-Suiza RM Race Car (chain driven)  This woman's pointing at the snake horn  enlarged shot of the horn (sorry for the lack of clarity)  | ||

Here's a few shots that I took today. For me, the highlight of the show was when David Smith fired up his 1994 ex-Gerhard Berger F1 412B. He shifted it through the gears (jack stand was used) and wound it up to around 12K rpm. It redlines at 18K. This was the last year for the 4-litre V12 F1 cars. Amazing sounds!!!  Charging up the nitrogen "bomb" valve train system.  Fueling  Starting the engine  Three great looking rears in a row. Geeze, Dave! You ARE quick, aren't you? I just got back from the event after the awards ceremony. I'll sort out what I have and upload some Ferrari-related pics a little later. Congrats to Eric Hawley for assembling a great set of significant Ferraris and other fine cars for this fantastic event.
