Fairly new to the board. Anyone mind providing me with a little background info on Mr. Jennings?? He seems to be the kind of man I want to be when I "grow up" if you know what I mean!!!

Met Bill at the Glen and his 360 Gt is the primary reason I'm giving serious consideration to strapping a blower onto my Challenge car. 1:58's around the track. amazing car and obviously a very good driver.

Ferrari Club of America - New England Region

THANKS TO EVERYONE who attended the Bill Jennings garage tour! We had a spectacular turnout on what started out as a damp day. Well over 80 enthusiasts (maybe 100; we lost count) showed up. Forty+ Ferraris were lined up all over the place, as late comers struggled to slide their cars into an open slot. Maseratis, Porsches, a Lotus Esprit, an Aston Martin and lots of BMWs, MBs, etc. were scattered about as well. Bill's "Ferrari Garage" contained a 250 GT Pininfarina Cabriolet, the wickedly fast 360 GT, a Spice-Ferrari WSC race car, a concours condition 333 SP, a F50 with the top off and the latest addition, an Enzo Ferrari, complete with the NH vanity plate, "ENZO"! All of which was parked in one of the nicer garages we've been to -- Ferrari artwork and memorabilia filled the walls. Sad to say, Bill has to park his 360 Spider in another garage, with his German cars, as he's run out of room in this one....

Bill and his family also generously provided a catered lunch on their deck overlooking lake Winnipesaukee. Underneath the deck was the "boat garage", wherein resided a stunning wooden powerboat. After lunch, we drew names at random to receive some very nice prizes donated by Ferrari and Maserati of New England - a dozen lucky members walked away with loot ranging from t-shirts and caps to tifosi flags, a fleece blanket roll, and authentic Fila Ferrari team wear. Thanks to FoNE and Nick Scelsi for their generosity and support! Thanks also to Christian Scott, NH Chapter President, who coordinated much of this, and who led a hardy band of enthusiastic drivers in a convoy up to Wolfeboro - past the traffic queuing up for the NASCAR race at NHIS.

Besides checking out the great cars, of course, this proved to be a nice opportunity to meet a lot of new members (and curious neighbors!). There is a "core" group of thirty or so FCA members who are very active in the region; this tour generated a lot of interest from members for whom this was their first chance to meet fellow tifosi. We had a great time finally putting names to faces, and we'll hopefully see many of these "new" members at upcoming events.

Speaking of which...

The current weather forecast for Sunday shows sunny skies and temps in the upper 60's, a PERFECT day to come out to the Myopia Hunt club for some polo! This coming Sunday is the Ferrari Cup polo match at Myopia Polo, Hamilton, MA. We'll start with a nice country drive through the North Shore of Mass., then stop for famous fried clams at Woodman's.

*** After lunch, we'll stop at the Topsfield Commons reception hall, where we'll have complimentary espressos, cappuccinos and Italian desserts, courtesy of new member and huge tifosi, Frank Martino!!!

After we top off on caffeine and sugar, we'll press onwards to spectate on the oldest existing polo field in the US. Free admission to FCA members driving Ferraris and Maseratis! "The Polo Clubs lush fields and tall evergreens are evidence of the long tradition of the sport. The first match was played here in 1888 on the oldest existing polo field in the United States. This is the 115th season of Myopia Polo, 1888-2003, and will offer spectators some of the finest competitive polo in the country." Polo starts at 3pm, and well arrive around 2:30pm. We will have reserved parking for Ferraris and Maseratis. The match lasts until about 5:00pm - and then there is an awards ceremony, with all children receiving a free souvenir. There will be two club teams competing for the Ferrari Cup. Also, there is a tradition at half time where the audience is invited onto the field for divot stomping!

Well meet at 11:00 am in the parking lot outside of Barnes & Noble/Starbucks, adjacent to the North Shore Mall in Peabody (int. of Rt. 114 and Rt. 128). We'll be using Motorola (FRS) radios on the drive, so bring one if you have one (channel 3, code 8), and make sure you've filled your gas tank! If you plan on attending, please send me an email. If youre headed directly to the club: from the north, take I-95 S. to Rt-133 E. Travel Rt-133 E. Rt-1A joins 133. Stay on Rt-1A S. through Ipswich and on to Hamilton. Look for the Polo Grounds on left, approximately 2.5 mi. after the Hamilton town line. From the south, take Rt-128 N. to Exit 20A - intersection of Rt-1A N. Travel Rt-1A N. for 3.8 miles through North Beverly, Wenham, and South Hamilton. The Myopia Polo Grounds will be on your right. It is well marked with a sign.

HOPE TO SEE YOU ON SUNDAY!

vty,

--Dennis

=====================================

Sunday drive, lunch, tech and United States Grand Prix viewing! We'll be meeting early on 9/28 for a leisurely Sunday morning drive, concluding at Ferrari & Maserati of New England for a tech session, complimentary car wash, lunch and a viewing of the USGP. Come join your fellow members of the New England Region as we sample the first hints of fall air and view the foliage as tendrils of color creep in, on a nice Sunday morning drive. To be followed immediately by lunch and complimentary tech inspection of your car, with a live viewing of the USGP on the big-screen TV.

For the morning drive, we'll meet at 10:00 a.m., right off of I-495, between Rt. 2 and the Mass Pike., in the big parking lot at the Salt Box Country Store, 626 Main Street (Route 117 West), Bolton, Massachusetts, for a nice, back roads drive (NOT the same route we took in the spring) and a bombing run back to Ferrari & Maserati of New England for bunch. We'll be using Motorola (FRS) radios on the drive, so bring one if you have one (channel 3, code 8), and make sure you've filled your gas tank! From I-495, take Route 117 West for less than a half-mile; the Salt Box is on the left. If you can't make the drive, please plan on arriving at noon for lunch and the tech session.

If you plan on attending, please send me an email. To register for a car wash and free technical inspection, please contact Steve Oldford, service manager, Ferrari & Maserati of New England, at (617) 559-0123. Free lunch, free drive, free GP viewing. What have ya got ta lose?

>Does he actually own the 333 sp, F50, enzo etc??

LOL! Jeez... didn't expect that question. Of course, he owns all of them. And a 360 Spider that he keeps in the attached garage. He's had more, of course, but this is what he owns today. He just gave his 360 Challenge to one of his kids, who in turn sold his 355 Challenge.

I actually met Mr. & Mrs. Jennings (along with Todd Lockwood & a bunch of other New England Ferraristi) last year at the Montreal Grand Prix. They were all seated directly behind my wife & me, and we really enjoyed getting to know them.
