Dave, I finally arrived back in town yesterday to answer your question and found that the ferrarichat site was down. Anyway, the Kragen Autoparts chain (which goes by three other names around the USA) carries inductive suppression spark cables manufactured by BORG/WAGNER. These spark cables use helically wound stainless steel wire as the conductor. I don't know if they carry them for your particular model, and I don't know about extenders either. In the past, if they didn't stock cables for a particular car, I would just buy a set in which all the cables would be of equal or greater length than I needed. I would just cut them to length and crimp on new connectors and boots.

What about the extenders?

Dave, the helically wound inductive suppression spark wire can be purchased at most large chain auto parts stores under several brand names depending on the supplier for the store chain. For most common models of cars they have a complete set of wires specific for a particular model. For others I have made my own custom spark cables by cutting a new cable to the length of the old OEM cable, adding the rubber boots and crimping on the metal end-terminals that connect the cable between the distributor and spark plug. It was a very easy operation to perform. Recently, I saw this type of spark cable set with the name of a major ignition component company on the box in one of the large chain stores. I can't remember the name now, but I shall find out and post it when I'm back in town in a couple of days.

Bill - you mentioned you were happy with the
"helically wound inductive RFI suppression wire".
Was there a particular brand or source you used?

Dave, there is a discussion of this topic in the Archives through Sept 11, 2003 of the Technical Q&A section titled "Spark Plug Wires Resistance readings." The last post was mine of Sept 5th.

What should the resistance be?

dave,
check resistance and check continuity with a tester...on both the wires and plug extenders.

Every once in a while I'll get a little "surge" which I think is almost like a loss of power.
New plugs installed recently. Originally thought it might be some bad fuel but I've
burned a couple tanks since this started. So now I'm wondering about the plug wires.... Comments ??
