Summer-94 I was at a Porsche Club BBQ. One of the guys brought his 89 328 also. A friend of mine dropped by in his new 348 Spider. I went for a ride in the spider and then the 328. That was a fun day. Lots of very fast cars and two fantastic Ferraris. A month later I had driven both of those F-cars and have been hooked ever since.

My first Ferrari was and is a 79 308 GTS. I bought this car because of it having no computers, sensors, or electronics in general. The last carb. model. This will be the only Ferrari I probably will collect. I enjoy it for what it is and being a part of yesteryear.

My first ride in a Ferrari was the one I eventually bought, my GT4...

When I was 14 and visting Classic Ferrari (now: FofD), the salesman let me start up a 328, right in the showroom! Yeah, that got me hooked on Ferraris...

My first ride was in a 83 Rosso Rubino 308. My first drive was the 85 Qvalve 308 that I own to this day(I bought it in 1993) Ron Thomas called it one of the nicest he's seen and I do appreciate that Ron!! Ive also driven a brand new 348 Spider in 1994, a 97 355 Spider, a 99 550 Maranello and my current car, a TDF Blue 355 F1 Spider. I will drive a 360 this week. My goals are to soon drive an F40 and a 365 Daytona. Come to think of it Id like to drive a Testarossa, 512Tr, F50, 456, BB512, 288GTO........

First drive (three years ago): 1991 Ferrari 348 TS- Rosso Corsa exterior (or course)- drove it 100 ft.!

I work at an auction company every summer here in Tulsa and have the opportunity to drive some wonderful cars. I did sit in it for 30 minutes :-)

My first ride was in a 348 Spider red and tan, with a very good friend, Charlie. He is a crazy guy we hit about 145mph that day. The sound of the engine the smell of the leather and the exhaust one of the most amazing times of my life.
My first drive was about a week later in a 355 Spider red and tan. I had just met Victor about a half hour before he offered me to drive his car. It was incredible, I was so nervous.....

My first ride in a Ferrari was in a 308 gtb4. After that a friend of mine picked up a 348 ts, very nice. A year later he graduated to a 91 TR. He got it up to 140 mph on the way to Limerock. I know this one is away from the F-car but another friend of mine took me for a ride in his Yellow Lambo Roadster from Long Island NY to Pocano Race track in PA. Now that was something I will never forget..We drive through Manhattan to the Holland tunnel. Everyone, young and old, stopped to look. Woman we tring to talk to me and I was just the passenger. Even though we all know Ferrari is king, The diablo roadster is an animal and draws way more attention due to how rare it is to come across. My Final F-car experience was in Marks beautiful quatro-v 308 gtsi. One for the finest you'll see. Thanks Mark..

Wow, Ross! A ride with Stommelen in a 917 at the age of ten? I'm jealous as hell. No wonder you're a car junkie. A friend of mine got a ride around Laguna Seca with David Donahue in his dad's Porsche 917/30 Can-Am car. There were no seat belts for the passenger. Donahue forgot that little point and braked hard for a corner. When the brakes took hold my friend lifted right out of the seat. He held on for dear life and just barely missed being ejected!

when i was growing up (think: Fox's "That 70s Show") i was never much into ferraris. i was a porsche guy. i guess the 1970s f-cars just didn't do it for me. in the '80s i started to pay attention with the Testarossa, but until then the 308/BB/Mondial/328 cars just didn't do it for me (i've grown to seriously appreciate them now, but like avocados, it was an acquired taste).

so i never worked that hard to get a ride early on. if memory serves,my first ride/drive was in a 328.

doody!

first ride was the 92 348ts that i bought. that sound and the aura around it were too much to resist.
not to divert the thread too much but....the first mega ride, in any car, i had was when i was about 10 and was with my father at hockenheim for an amateur race (he drove some for porsche), and i got a ride with rolf stommelen in a 917 long tail (it had a passenger jump seat fitted), for a few laps. it was an indescribably fast (and loud) ride ! that was it - i was hooked on speed from there on. good memory.

Guys,

I haven't yet ridden in one :-( The amount of times i've been to Ferrari UK & still not gone out for a cruise.

Each time i walk through the car park & see all those machines, I smile at the car & say, very shortly!

Kurt.

1976 in the heart of Paris, Charles Pozzi took me for a memorable ride in a fiberglass yellow 308B from his dealership to CDG Airport and back on the Peripherique, Friday evening in traffic. The guy was nuts and drove back on the shoulder to get back to the city. I was hooked, bought my first (a blue 79 GTS) 3 years later.

Oh, man, in 1973, i dropped out of college to work in the then nascent Hi-end hi-fi business, and wound up replacing a sales guy, who i dealt with when i was a customer, named mike curley. mike was a notorious wheeler dealer, in all kinds of things, including cars. We became friendly even after i replaced him at the hi fi store (apparently, he became a rep for a # of the lines the store sold, so got a commission by selling the goods to the store, and then again, when he resold them to store customers). Anyway, mike was also into Ferraris, and you know how people sometimes bullshit. Well, we trecked out to Mike's farm one day, and there were 5 or 6 F cars in a barn/garage in various states of (dis)repair. I didn't know much about F cars then, and when mike showed me the OEM tires, still wrapped in brown paper, and pointed to a wood block that was attached to the pedal of one of the racing ferraris, 'cause one of the driver's legs (god knows who, maybe you all do) was shortened in a wreck, i just nodded, appreciating the full madness of the guy. I have later seen references to some of the cars mike owned (his name can be searched on barchetta cc) and he did have some serious 50's and 60's cars. I called him a few years ago when i finally got the fever, for some advice; mike said he got out before the "crash" and now is only interested in pre-50's F cars. Me too. (by the way, his garden planter in the yard was a rusting Lambo). My first experience, indeed.

The first Ferrari that I had the pleasure of driving was a 250 Cabriolet Series II in 1979 at Road America in Elkhart Lake. I will never forget the experience. I was amazed at the smoothness and the sound of the V-12 engine.

First drive (2001): 1984 Euro 308QV. I liked it so much I decided to buy it.

In '87, I drove a Euro-spec 308 ('79) that belonged to the friend of a friend. I was in heaven. The funny thing was that the speedo was in km/h. I didn't feel like constantly converting my speed, and as a result would notice the occasional station wagon barreling down on me on the side streets while I was doing a blistering 25mph!
