FYI.. I also have a 1980 GTB 2V inj (#32603) with the over/under style clock/oil temp gauges. The sales brochure for that model shows this set up and also shows a single drivers side mirror (oval style). This is what my 1980 has and it is non elect.
Hope this helps
regards axel ...

John, those cars you saw that had the instruments side by side were 81 models. The door plate probably says Nov or Dec 1980 but the cars are the 81 model year.

The side by side instruments were started on the 1981 2V inj cars. The 1980 2V inj car was the first model with the clock/oil temp on the center console and the only model year they were placed over/under.
On all the carbed cars they were over by the driver's door.

I have an '81 308,and I have only one, square mirror,on the drivers side only. It has a toggle switch inside the armrest to adjust it,so,I have every reason to believe that it came that way from Italy. It is an U.S. spec car,had 14k miles on it when I bought it almost 3 years ago. And,had only one private owner, prior to me. I was consideing putting a matching, square mirror on the passenger side...too hard to change lanes on the highway,in traffic, with only being able to try to look through the side louvers. I hate to break up the originality of the car, but, think that it's a more practical solution. It can always be changed back if anyone would ever want to.

You are correct John. You were looking for when they changed from the vertical to the horizontal right? If so I beleive that happened in 81

I thought on all carbed cars they were on the dash next to the left side of the steering wheel, and then in 1980 on the injected cars moved to the gearshift console ? (first vertical then horizontal, but I could be wrong.

JP -- Have you tried checking the various 308-2V SPCs at FerrariUK for reference? For the gauges, on my ex-'78 S they were side-by-side (side mirrors were aftermarket so no info there).

When did Ferrari change the 308 2v's, from oval to square mirrors, and also when did the clock/oil temp gauges go from over/under to the side by side position. I have seen various 308's 2v with both set ups. I know that all QV's had the changes but I can't find the answers in any of my books they all are vague on this.
Thanks.........JP
